We just started decorating the house this week for the holidays. I always get a big bay leaf garland for our long hallway but this year I got an extra one to decorate the kitchen after I saw this instagram photo. It makes our house look so much more festive and it smells incredible! Even after a week or two when it gets dry it still looks beautiful. Here is a DIY to make one if you don’t have access to a flower market. We set up this little Christmas brunch in my kitchen with Soma, the sustainable water filter. I got a Soma water filter pitcher last year and tell everyone I know about it. It’s one of those products that is as functional as it is beautiful. And the water tastes great. I love that I can put it out for parties or dinner parties and I’m not embarrassed of how it looks. It’s sustainably made and the filtration uses plant-based products. Plus they make a donation to charity:water with every sale. Find them at drinksoma.com or target.com/soma! (They make great gifts!)
Soma was recently featured on Ellen during her annual “12 days of giveaways!” Everyone in the audience received a Soma to take home. Today, you can get that Soma pitcher for FREE too! Exclusively for Oh Happy Day readers, the first 100 people who sign up for 6 months of their fresh filter delivery service will receive a FREE pitcher! Click here for all the details.

Where are those gold drawer pulls from? Been on the hunt for similar ones! Thanks.
They are from School House Electric. I’m really happy with the color, the finish and the durability.

beautiful garland and beautiful kitchen! i have been meaning to ask – how do you like your butcher block counters? we recently installed some in our kitchen, and even with regular oiling, it’s hard to keep them in good condition, especially around the sink area. i lay down towels and trays to set things on but have already noticed some discoloration (mold?) along the edge of the sink.

I live in SF, where can I get the garland? I’ve been looking for something just like this and have no time to make one now that I have a baby.

I like that the Soma filters are made from renewable resources. Maybe it’s because the tap at my house is good and safe to drink out of, but I always feel like it’s a waste to throw the giant filters away!

I already use my Brita filter all the time (it’s really the only way I drink water), but now I kind of want one of these just because I like the wooden handle 😉
I’d really like to see how fast it filters though. If it filters faster than my Brita then it’d be pretty much a no brainer for me – the way the water trickles through my Brita filter drives me in sane, especially since I drink so much water so I’m constantly filling it.

i love how beautiful everything is and i love the look of the Soma water filter but i would never buy it since it really doesn’t filter much besides chlorine. Lovely design and concept though just not up to par with actually filtering out the unwanted chemicals that are in most people’s water.
