I discovered Chartpak markers in college and I love using them because they are easy to use but end up looking like watercolors. They are markers used for architectural drawings found at any art store but I love using them for craft projects. They come in really nice colors and the possibilities are really endless. I made this colorblock flag garland by just choosing 8 different colors at the store. After I made the flags we just sewed them together to create an easy garland.
Materials: Chartpak markers, white cardstock, sewing machine, straight edge, x-acto knife, cutting mat
Step 1: Use a straight edge and x-acto knife to cut out strips of paper that are about 1.5″ x 3″.
Step 2: Color the flags with Chartpak markers. If you want white stripes on your flags, make sure you don’t color too closely (the markers bleed.)
Step 3: Use a sewing machine to sew the colored pieces of cardstock together.

Yes! My dad worked in advertising and always had those markers around the house when I was growing up – they’re so awesome! And they totally do remind me of watercolors!
