When I was a teenager, I was really into Pen-paling (could have been into worse things, I think). I have over 200 pen-pals I would write constantly. The culture at that time (this would have been the late 1990’s) was huge in the pen-pal community and the only way to make a statement was to get creative with penmanship, stationary, and envelopes. The ones created above remind me of those little packages I used to receive on a daily bases– it’s lovely. Makes me a little nostalgic. 🙂

I haven’t seen a single one of these before, and they’re all fantastic! I gotta write down these ideas. The one with the letter cut-outs for the name of the addressee is my favorite!

I’m loving this series! I adore snail mail and it’s always more fun when it’s in a fun package. The most creative one I’ve received was full of glitter (and a card of course). It had a note on the outside of the envelope to open outdoors- thank goodness!

I love the vintage letter most but all in all everything is creatively awesome!

This post is inspiring me to send some crafty notes to my friends! Something else fun to do is put a creative return address. Instead of Courtney, 123 ABC Lane, Mayberry, USA – put “Courtney, Middle Earth, 123 ABC Lane, …” The possibilities are endless (e.g. “The Chamber of Secrets,” “Litchfield Prison,” etc.). You can also leave out your name entirely to confuse your friends! I like to use a fictional return address that would be an inside joke for the friend I’m writing. They’ll wonder who on Earth sent something from inside the Scientology Headquarters of America!
