Epson approached me about creating a party with their PowerLite Home Cinema. My first thought was a party I went to a few summers ago where I went to a movie party in a swimming pool. It was so fun. All you need is a friend with a pool (people with pools tend to make friends easily in the summertime!) and set up a projector. We added a ton of fun floaties and food of course. We also put together a list of the best family movies to watch (download it here!) (PS. Right now, Epson is hosting a giveaway where you could win a projector to host your own movie night this summer! Find out more here.)
Once you find a location with a pool, planning a pool party movie night is really simple. A few days before the event, we picked up easy summer snacks (like popsicles, popcorn, veggies, and candy) and fun pool toys. We also made sure that we had a spot to project the movie. We ended up renting a screen, but a white wall or sheet also works perfectly. At this point, you may also want to practice setting up your projector and picking out a movie. I love the PowerLite Home Cinema because it’s so easy to use: it only requires one cable and can connect with MHL enabled mobile phones & tablets. As long as you have wifi, you can show any movie from Netflix or Amazon. (Get my movie picks here.)
Then one the day of the party, we arranged all the snacks, blew up the pool toys, and made sure the projector was all set up. Voilà! Everyone had such a fun time.

Projectors are an awesome way to watch movies! We have some pretty giant white walls at home that would make movie nights so much more fun. This is such a cute idea for a party, too.

I am a HUGE fan of the outdoor movie night. These projectors are great investments. We do ours with kids having a scavenger hunt to “earn” money for the candy bar. Because it’s basically candy and cocktails, it’s easy to have a huge crowd. Out here, at least, you can’t start before 8 anyway because it’s too light, so you don’t even have to do dinner.

Excellent idea! The blow up pretzel is hilarious! That projector is pretty rad if you can just hook it up to a phone. Crazy cool!

We love everything about this! A summer night filled with swimming, and on top of that adding movies while staying afloat?! Instead of a drive in movie you get a swim up movie. Genius.
XOXO,

Fun! We’re having our 3rd annual movie pool party this year…the first year was Jaws, second was Raiders of the Lost Ark and this year is Star Wars. It’s something I look forward to every year.

I hosted a Halloween movie night last fall where we projected the film outside. It was super fun. I really want to do it again!
