Geometric Garland

Did you see last week’s post featuring awesome rainbow ideas from Pinterest? So inspiring! This geometric garland in rainbow colors is really quick to put together so it’s great if you have a big space to decorate. If you’re hosting a birthday party, make these geometric favor boxes to match!

Supplies: Straight edge cutter, ruler, bone folder, scissors, glue stick, string, colored card stock (8 1/2″ by 11″ minimum), cutting mat

Step 1: Put the card stock on the cutting mat. Use the ruler and bone folder to make a crease 2 1/2″ from the top of the paper. Do another crease 2 1/2″ from the first, and another two after that. There should be four equal sections plus a smaller leftover section at the end.
Step 2: Use the straight edge cutter to cut the paper into strips perpendicular to the creases you just made.
Step 3: Fold the strips along the creases and glue the the smallest flap to the underside to form a diamond/rhombus.
Step 4: Cut small holes in two opposite folds. The size of your hole will depend on your string – they need to be big enough for the string to fit through, but if the holes are too big the paper rhombuses will slide around too much.
Step 5: String the paper rhombuses onto the string. (If you’re having trouble, use washi tape on the end of the string to make it more like a shoelace.) Repeat for as many colours as desired.

    Where is your glassware from?

    • The pitcher is a thrift store find and the cups are actually plastic tumblers bought from Target last summer!

Such fun! I love the colors you chose. I bet they would look fun if the string was its own striking color, too. 🙂
