Here’s an easy and inexpensive idea for a Halloween costume. My friend Fergi came across a few vintage hand puppets at a thrift store and knew they’d be the perfect accessory for Mr. Rogers. The idea is great for little kids who aren’t that excited about dressing up yet – and you can probably use clothing items they already have in their closet. I’ve found that Etsy and Ebay have vintage puppets for sale – or you could always take a chance with your local Goodwill. See all our Homemade Halloween Costumes right here.
Materials Needed: Vintage Hand Puppets (can be found on Etsy and Ebay), Clip-On Tie, and a Cardigan Sweater. Mr. Rogers also changes into sneakers at the beginning of the show, so we’d recommend wearing them (with slacks if possible!)

There is one obvious flaw with this costume: the button up cardigan. How would Mr. Rogers do his signature full-zip down to half-zip if he was wearing buttons? It just wouldn’t work! 🙂 That puppet is a perfect creepy Lady Elaine look-alike!

Do kids still know Mr. Rogers? I’ll admit that since I don’t have kids of my own, I don’t know what they watch growing up these days. I think this is adorable though!
