Today we are sharing a Giant Paper Flower Party Hat! These are perfect for a spring or summer party. Surprise all your friends with a big and bold statement! It’s been a few years since I introduced my first party hat tutorial, this party hat is based off that template.
Materials: Party Hat Template, X-Acto Knife, Colored Paper, Elastic, Scissors, Jewelry Wire, Glue Gun, Crepe Paper
Step 1: After building your party hat (instructions here,) cut out ten or more large petal shapes out of crepe paper.
Step 2: Shape petals with your fingers.
Step 3: Cut out two pieces of crepe paper and two 10-inch pieces of jewelry wire.
Step 4: Crumble one of the crepe paper pieces into a ball and cover the piece of the wire so that the ball folds over the wire.
Step 5: Fold the other piece of crepe paper over the ball and squeeze around the bottom of the ball.
Step 6: Begin placing petals around the ball base of the flower and wrap with the second piece of wire to secure in place. Continue until you are satisfied with the look of the petals and have finished the length of the wire.
Step 7: Use your X-acto knife to cut out in “X” in your hat and string the flower wire through the “X.”
Step 8: Hot glue the wire in place on the inside of the hat.
Step 10: Party time!

Gosh! I am so torn as to which party hat to do for my Little’s first birthday. I was determined to use your Party Hat DIY with crepe paper around the bottom but these are AWESOME! Maybe a combo of both! Thank you!

I don’t know what girl wouldn’t want to wear this! Great use of a party hat. I could even see this for a bridal shower party photo op, too.

I think I like the smaller paper flower hats you displayed a few days later. This is cool but I would rather use the larger flowers as standalone decorations I think, or maybe table settings. And then smaller flowers on the party hats. Still, very cool!
