One of my favorite movies is Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. One of the more memorable songs, June Bride, says “Winter weddings can be gay, like a Christmas holiday!” The holidays are such a magical time…then add in a wedding? Sounds lovely to me. Below are some ideas for what to wear and what to give at a winter wedding.
TO WEAR: Dress / Necklace / Shoes / Coat / Clutch / Bow Belt
TO GIVE: Art Print / Sculpture / Custom Address Stamp / Napkins

I am struggling with something to wear to a winter (black tie optional) Orthodox Jewish wedding. Apparently, I can’t expose my arms or show skin in general. (Not that I’m going to be a hoochie mama or anything, but not showing anything makes it tough.)

Love the clothes and Seven Brides but I hate Christmas Weddings. My calendar is so packed with parties and concerts and a million kid things that I hate to have to squander my precious time on a wedding. I have a super good friend getting married this weekend and going to her wedding means I’m going to have to skip my daughter’s regional choir Christmas performance. Which I don’t want to do. Ugh. Christmas weddings are rude!
I’m going to beg my children to not get married in December. Or at least not until December 27th.

@Leslie: What about a beautiful, slim fitting, black turtleneck and a pencil skirt with some sparkle. Awesome tights and pumps. . .you’re set and WARM.
Great collection & inspiration above. Made me even more excited for my own winter wedding in January.

A year or so ago, I brought a fantastic dress that would be awesome for such a conservatuve wedding. A fitted, three quarter length sleeve midi pencil dress, it hugged every curve but not too tightly, which looks awesome with stilettos as the dress is demure. Then the shoes/legware are the sex and the dress is seductive but with an elegance that wouldn’t look out of place in 1956!

Love that dress – I’ve asked Santa if I could have it in red for this Christmas 🙂 Incidentally, we also did a post about wedding outfits and featured that dress in different (slightly more summery) colours http://polkadotlighthouseuk.blogspot.com/2011/07/perfect-dress.html. Just goes to show it really could be the perfect dress!
