With the weather getting colder by the day, are you in need of some fun indoor party ideas for kids? If so a mommy-daughter (or son!) painting party might do the trick. I especially love these small square canvases. For amateur artists, myself included, they seem much less intimidating…fun for all!
FOR MAMA: TOP / TROUSER / FLATS
FOR DAUGHTER: PAINT / SQUARE CANVAS / TOP / LEGGINGS / PAINTBRUSHES / SHOES

How fun! My son and I have talked about breaking out paints and canvas, even though neither of us know what we’re doing. Just the idea of creating and the smell of paints… I adore your outfits, too!

absolutely! baby R just got off the art table not too long ago. She loves scribbling and I think I need to invest in finger paints. Such messy, memorable fun. :))
totally in love with the color of those pants…*on the hunt*

This is very, very cute idea. However, it’s probably worth mentioning that cadmium-based paints are extremely toxic and should definitely not be handled by children. They’re also pretty darn expensive (probably expensive enough to discourage anyone from giving them to children in the first place). Nevertheless, it’s better to be safe than sorry 🙂

i don’t think i’d be brave enough to give a little one of my own oil paints – i get everywhere enough on my own! i’d love to let them play with gouache and watercolor, and would probably keep lots of kid-size smocks just in case 🙂

I love the idea of painting with my daughter. She’s not old enough to hold a brush but when she is I’m getting her a cute little smock shirt and ballet flats!!!

My kids LOVE painting! Beth said the first thing I thought when I saw the cadmium paint too : ) And sarah mentioned gouache, ooh the best paint ever!! Last, Kacie, I always let my little ones paint when they were super small, just with something really non-toxic like tempera and although the outfits are super cute, we just would paint in our diaper and head straight to the bath, tummies are often quickly turned into a canvas!!!
