I am a huge fan of hobbies and learning how to create things with your hands!! Knitting has become a large part of my life over the past few years and I jump at the chance to teach anyone who is willing to learn!! I have always wanted to throw a knitting / DIY party – where everyone comes together, learns, shares, creates, & enjoys each others company! Here is what I would bring to my party :

I LOVE the idea of “making” parties. Crafting, canning, anything. I would definitely be down for one of those.

Love those mittens! I love the idea of these parties- so much better than going to a pub or bar sometimes. It could be a great way of meeting new people!

I love the idea of a knitting party. That’s on my to-do list of things to learn. I’m actually planning a girls’ night IN for a girlfriend’s birthday in december. I agree with Hannah that sometimes it’s better time spent than all the effort that goes into getting ready and going to a lounge/bar. We have mini-pies and other crafts on the agenda 🙂

My friends and I do this every few weeks. We all get together, bring a project to work on with some wine and snacks. It’s so fun although we end up talking so much and not really working on our knitting!

If you lived near me I would LOVE to have someone teach me to knit (especially at such a fun gathering)! It is something that has been on my list of things to try ‘one day’ for a long time.

So sweet. I love your picks. Last week I invited some new people and my friend & I co-hosting a Makers Gathering. We all brought our own projects whether it be cooking or crafty or whatever and brought drinks or small bites to share. It was soo much fun. Conversation always flows when your hands are busy and you’re inspired by what others are making!

My mom tried to teach me to knit when I was about 7. I remember getting SO frustrated that I’ve been shy about trying it again. But learning how to knit at a party with friends? Now that sounds fun.

Friends in my town Attend a beer and knit gathering once a week. A great way to unwind with crafts and good company. You can check out my most recent post which shows how I converted a sweater and scarves for pillow covers: http://obsessivision.com/. Feel free to share!

Ha Emma, love the post! Your pictures almost tempt me to attempt a little knitting, but I fear I’d end up cutting holes in all of my clothes and failing to make any usable mittens.!

i hosted a knitting party last year and it was a blast. we all took a trip to the yarn store before heading back to the flat and working on beginners projects. the group was an excellent mix of patient, experienced knitters and total newbies and with everyone so excited about their recent yarn/needle purchases they were all eager to focus and learn. add in pizza, pumpkin bars, and never-ending mugs of tea and it was a pretty festive occasion.

I have wanted to learn for ages! Do you have any suggestions on where to begin, books or Internet sources that would help? I don’t have anyone nearby to teach me. Thanks!

I love knitting, but I am the slowest most methodical knitter existing, and so I have to enjoy the process and not the end result.

A girls night in sounds like a great idea. I love teaching people to crochet and knit – it might be a fun rainy day activity.
Although, I’d at least want to go to a cafe – many of my friends (myself included) now have children and toddlers are like kittens when it comes to yarn!

I have just learned knitting, 4 sessions ago, made a hat, now I am making fingerless mittens for my twins 😉
Got some requests from friends who want to learn and some who want to teach me 4 needles knitting socks,
So this is the perfect post
Merci Jordan, seeing it in pictures seems like an easy gathering to set up

Oh wow! I love this idea. I’m always looking for excuses to teach people to knit. A fun party, maybe with some spiked apple cider cocktails, would be the perfect opportunity.
If you have that party, send me an invite 😉
