Moses started his French school this week so we’ve been adjusting to the new schedule. I have to say I really love it. It was a little frustrating trying to speak to the teacher in French but everyone at his school is so sweet and patient with us. I think it is really good for us to have some structure again. Do you have anything fun planned for the weekend? I am working on a few projects and have plans to go on a date with Paul tomorrow. I can’t wait. Happy Weekend guys!
PS: There are 20 more spots left for the Commission Project. Last chance to get a picture painted for Christmas!
PPS: I also write for Babble.com. Here are my posts for this week.
Rainboots! I still don’t own a pair of Hunter Wellies but I’m thinking of taking the plunge. Worth it?

I’ve been dying for a pair of hunter boots, especially since I’ve seen all of the adorable cable knit liners for them. *swoon*
As much as I love the summer, I’m so looking forward to thick cardigans, scarves, and boots….aaaand throwing some pumpkin baked goods on the blog (and in my belly).

Jordan! I’ve been following your blog forevs and your Paris posts have only stoked the raging fire in my soul which will finally be sated because I WILL BE THERE IN 24 HOURS! FOR 7 WHOLE DAYS!! Staying with my achingly urbane/sophisticated expat friend in the 7th. So excited I’m practically squealing. Thanks for the hot tips of things to see/do/pack. I will think of you when I am wearing my (almost) florescent orange dress in a sea of navy cardis.

The dress is vintage. I bought it off Etsy a few years ago.
The shoes are from a French shoe store called Eden Shoes. They cost about fiddy bucks.
M’s suspenders are from American Apparel.

I love my brown hunters. They are so comfy and I have had so many leaky cheap wallows that for me it’s worth it- especially as they are about half price if you find them in an agricultural shop rather than a fashion place. Top tip!

Fun picture/dress! I love my pink Hunters. I got a great deal b/c the children’s sizes fit me (I wear a women’s 6.5 ish) and they were seconds (ie not perfect) but I can’t really tell.

Hi Jordan,
As I have mentioned before, you are a never ending wealth of information that I tap into to plan and plot my own little Paris jaunt. I am researching schools for my girls and wanted to ask how Moses enjoyed his first days at his French school? Is it close to you in the 7th? Is it very expensive? Sorry for all the questions.
Have a lovely weekend.

Hmmm, having just returned my second pair of Hunter Wellies, I would have to say go with Aigle or Balmorals. Sad, I know, but the quality on Hunters has gone way down in the past couple of years. They’re now more fashionable than functional. They do come in great colors but my luck has been bad.
Great look on you and Moses!!!

do parisian preschool kids really dress like that for school? did he come home looking picture perfect?
my daughter rarely agrees to have her hair brushed and usually prefers to wear a disney nightie to preschool.

A year spent in Paris sounds like an amazing adventure! How is your son adjusting to the new language ? I would love to do the same thing in the future!
PS- I would definetly go for the hunters. Im originally from Vancouver where the rain is constant and even tho I live in Ontario where we get more snow than rain I still love them!
Thanks,
Mona

Rainboots must be the latest blog fetish! We just blogged about a pair of rainboots that my sister bought over the weekend. They’re wedges (which sound crazy) but they’re amazingly cute! I just stumbled onto your blog and I love it!

Check out the Hunter regent savoys – they fit so much better than the original wellies (in my opinion).

go for it, they are quite durable and will last longer than you imagine. i’ve had my classic red hunters for 8 years now, and they are still in near-original shape. i second buying them at a gardening shop – maybe bhv in paris? i got mine at smith and hawken in soho, RIP…

hunters. absolutely, 100% worth it. i bought the bright scarlet ones last year and wore them constantly through boston’s vicious nor’easters and rainy season. the fleece cable link inserts are perfect too for trudging through snow.
