My brother Jared is in Haiti right now helping his friend who is setting up an orphanage. I’ve been following their progress on their blog. It’s one thing to hear that people in another country are struggling, for me it made such a difference to see these little kids and put faces to it. Their plans are really impressive and are setting it up so the orphanage will be sustainable and will not need any foreign aid.
Read about their building plans right here and the rocket stoves they are going to use to make fuel more affordable and make money. Reading their blog is heartbreaking and inspiring at the same time.
Today my brother set up a live chat with the kids at 11am PST (2pm EST) and you can talk to them and ask them questions they’ve made a goal to earn $1000 today. That will allow them to rent a tractor and clear a soccer field so the kids have a place to play. And then we’ll post photos this week when they finish the field. I love this because I’m not just sending money off to a large organization, but I can see them use my money for good immediately and right in front of my eyes. (My sister Gabby put up a better post about this right over here.)

Megan called and told me about it, so I was able to listen for quite a while (and donate)! It was so awesome and inspiring.
