Saturday night we dropped Moses off at my brother’s house for some free babysitting while we worked on our studio (it is looking great BTW pics coming soon.) While we were working I got a photo sent on my phone of a picture of Moses WITH NO HAIR! My brother had buzzed it! He needed a haircut but I just wanted to trim it a little. All those beautiful little curls are gone. I am now figuring out how to exact revenge on my brother–any ideas? (A side note: We’ve never cut his hair before.)
p.s.: I was shocked when I found out but he still looks cute. Yes, I’m still on speaking terms with my brother. 🙂 Happy Birthday Jared.

That is crazy! Are you and your brother still on speaking terms? Seriously. I would cry too and then probably go slash my brother's tires.

Depending on what your brother's hair is already like, I say you make him shave his bald too. How terrible – I would never speak to my brother again if he did that!

OMG! Did no one tell him to NEVER cut your sibling's kid's hair?! Especially when they have such sweet little curls?! I would've gone bananas.
My mom learned this lesson the hard way when she cut my cousin's hair one time when she was staying with us. My uncle about went postal on my mom. I still don't think he's forgiven her.
I agree – we need a photo to see the After!

Who cuts a kids hair, when it's not their kid? Crazy!! I'd kill my brother
Megan
April 26, 2010
No! Why?! Why would he do that?
I think your only recourse is to shave his head while he sleeps (assuming he's not bald already).

NO. WAY. wow. wouldn't know whether to laugh with him or punch him. what about your brother's hair? does it look like he could use a little sun-in poured into his shampoo??? he and his newphew would eventually end up with the same haircut. 🙂

whoa! this is the brother, in my defense jordan said 'if we came back and it was cut i'd be happy' and i told paul when he dropped him off – the only issue is the length, and unfortunately my barber skills are limited.

Sun-In in the shampoo, brilliant!
I'd be ticked, too! Did he at least save some locks for you to keep in the baby book??
Hmm- how about some sort of embarrassing stunt?

we totally need the after picture! And I saw your tweet about giving Hank a mohawk. Hank would look AWESOME with a mohawk!!! Do it! 😀

Brothers are the WORST! You should paint one of the walls in his house an obnoxious color. Or, one of my friends listed her brother's beloved BMW for sale on craigslist along with his mobile phone # for the contact. It took him a few calls before he figured it out and was hilarious!
My mother-in-law cut bangs on my daughter while babysitting her when she was 2 or 3–then denied doing it. How else could she not have bangs when I dropped her off and have them when I picked her up? I hope his hair grows back with curls.
Caroline, No.

That is absolutely bonkers! BUT, in Jared's defence, having read his statement and bearing in mind what my brother used to do to our cat's fur with a pair or scissors… the blame lies equally, here. 🙂 🙂 🙂 LOL!

That sounds like something my brother would do! And yes, hair grows back so…WHEW!

I'm sure he had the best intentions… (but those curls! sigh) Maybe your bro should give himself the same haircut he gave your son. It would be a good sign of solidarity with Moses. They could form a buzzcut club.

I almost feel sorry for Jared, facing the wrath of all the women here. But then again, he cut those curls! Oy.
But I bet Moses is still super cute, it's just an adjustment.

I don't know, that is some pretty serious undermining of your parenting style–you are pretty loving to let him off so easily. True revenge would be to undermine him with his kids-for example, if they hate plastic toys, the loudest, cheapest most baby-pleasing toy ever. Or if they are pretty conservative with gender roles, give his son a doll. Something like that.

You're a good sister… I would FREAK OUT! I hope they saved you a lock!
I did hear a worse story lately… a sister in law cut BANGS into baby girl's hair… I don't know why, but that just seems so much worse. Bangs are a lifestyle choice (which I personally hate on little girls)!

I am laughing my head off right now. Mainly because (i don't have a brother) but if one of my sister's did that…. oh lord help them. It's a kind of laugh where you are so shocked that you don't know what else to do…. There would be some words exchanged…. and then not exchanged for a while.
It doesn't matter if you said that or not before you left him… you just don't do that. Oy, boys….. they are not the quickest are they?
Jared, I hope you have something wonderful planned as a sorry plea! You gonna need it, haha. Many, Many, many, MANY years later, MANY! you will laugh at this. Or when he has kids….

oh my… i have a curly locked son (red hair) and didn't cut his hair at all until he was over three. he's eight now and no one, and i mean NO ONE, touches his hair without my permission. he still has long-ish curly hair.
you are far more forgiving than i could ever be…

What's the big deal? It's just hair. He wasn't going to keep it forever, anyway. Less maintenance this way–no combing! Seriously–what's the attachment? I've had curly hair all my life and if I had a child he–or she–would have virtually no hair until they could take care of it themselves.

Gasp! Family. What can you do?
I once had a friend who, to get back at his girlfriend for a prank that she'd played on him, took the tires off her car (all 4!) and hid them.
They must have called a truce because they are now married with three kids.

Oh my gosh I would have DIED. My son has blonde curly locks and we only just gave him a trim. (He will be 3 next month and had never had his hair cut before) I would cry for sure and definitely wouldn't be speaking to my brother for at least a week!

I have followed your blog for quite a while and have thoroughly enjoyed your creativity. I had to make a comment on this one though… I would kill my brother if he did that! Ok, maybe not kill him but this is the exact reason I have not left my babies with my brother… I don't want to hate him after : ) You have much more grace than I would. I hope he saved at least one of those lovely locks for your baby book.

hmm it might be fun to shoot him, gun or even bow-and-arrow; i know i've been seeing a lot of the car-tire slashing(kind of played out).
have you thought about suing him?
i know it sounds crazy but i don't know seems like a TOTALLY great fit for the sitch you know?
if all else fails you just could gouge his eyeballs out with spoon when he's not expecting it!
good luck and let us know what you decide to do!
