Inspired by this $50 t-shirt and armed with bits of silk embroidery ribbon from Britex I made my own version. I got a $5 tshirt from H&M and the silk cost about $4. I used a small embroidery hoop and directions from these instructions Emily scanned in. It took about an hour and I did it while watching a few shows last night.

Oh, that turned out lovely. I adore clothes you buy for cheap and sprinkle some inspiration on to make into something fabulous. I might just try this idea, although I’ve never tried embroidery before.

I adored that shirt too, but since I’m not as clever as you are, I had to buy it. I am loving the inspiration. The technique would make a lovely pillow too. Maybe for Mother’s Day?

Perfect timing! I just found a few small holes in a couple of t-shirts and I’m sure I could fix or camouflage them with this trick – thanks!

Gotta be honest: I like this more than the one at J.Crew. And I’m not just saying that. I liked the silk-embroidered shift dress when I first saw it and thought about using that as inspiration too. I’ll just add that to the list… Anyway, fantastic shirt!

Oh this is too funny! I LOVE your project and it turned out beautifully. I just posted today a similar project with buttons added to a shirt that turned out badly.
Maybe I should try your project to get back on the horse again!
