I made about a bazillion macarons yesterday. My tummy is full of them since I ate them for breakfast {it was oatmeal vs. macarons–an easy decision.} I used this recipe but tried making different flavors. The lemon came out the best tasting, all I did was add some lemon zest and food coloring to the batter. If you try it yourself be sure to leave out the cookies for an hour or so before you bake them so they can form a skin. On a side note these bowls were another thrift store find. They had forty but I only bought eight. I got them last week at this thrift store in Berkeley. {They are probably still there if you hurry.}
One more happy thing: one of my best friends, Michelle had a sweet baby girl last night–I’m so excited, I think I’ll go have another macaron.

Did you grind the almonds yourself? or did you get them already ground?

I’ve tried to make macarons at home, and it’s super difficult! Only two of four attempts have they turned out. Yours are so pretty and perfect! Well done.

I have used that recipe too, yummy!
Yours look gorgeous!
Question: How did you get the pink so pink? I used red food coloring last time and it turned out like a pale peach when I wanted vibrant pink.

I’m going to attempt these this weekend – How did you make them lemon? Was it just for the filling? I’ve never had them before or made them but I keep seeing them everywhere and have to give it a shot!! Finger’s crossed!!
