Oh my, this slideshow of photographer Rachel Papo titled “Nutcracker Fitting” is gorgeous. I want to be a ballerina. Is it too late to take lessons?

I didn’t start studying dance until I was 30. It’s a fantastic way to be incredibly fit (dancers are serious athletes), but disguised as something beautiful and creative. I’m sure there are many schools in SF that offer adult classes in ballet and contemporary.

Oh, this reminds me of one of my favourite books from when I was little…it was called “A Very Young Dancer” and was a huge photo book about a girl who dances in the Nutcracker at the ABT.
Come to think of it, there was a whole series of those books. Hadn’t thought of them in years- thanks for the memory!

That is how I felt about hula when I returned from Hawaii… and frankly, I am still looking for a hula teacher in Atlanta, GA (believe it or not, there are a few). Oh yeah, and I’m 30. Go for it 🙂

Thank you! I really really enjoyed this. So gorgeous. I danced for about 20 years and I love dance images.

I have always dreamed of dressing up in those amazing costumes professional ballet dancers wear. What a fun photography project. It makes me want to see the Nutcracker in NYC.

You could totally do it! Dance is just like anything else you practice at. You would love it and it really does help you have an awesome body.
Thanks for those beautiful pictures.

I’ve been reading your blog for a while…I love it…and when I came across this post today I had to tell you that I just registered for an adult ballet class with the Nashville ballet that starts tomorrow! I haven’t done ballet since I was 13, and I had no idea there even WERE beginner adult ballet classes until I started calling around. You can totally do it! Supposedly there are women in the class who are in their 50s and have never danced before…what fun!
