Oh look! It is that four poster bed from IKEA–painted white. I think I’m going to take the plunge. We have pretty good quality bed right now. I’m afraid we’re going to be downgrading. Luckily IKEA has an excellent return policy. {From the new issue of Domino.}

Please let us know what you think! Also, do you have a trick for painting furniture that doesn’t leave streaks. Thanks!

You’ve got to post a note about it… I’ve been eyeing this bed since I saw it on the website. And they have the yellow version in the domino mag (the article by Chase) and it looks good there too!

just don’t buy the aspelund 😛 we did and we’re still currently sleeping ‘in’ a bed frame on the floor.

Do it! We got one of the last queen beds in San Diego (they are discontinuing it in that size- so it was on sale!)
Did you see that the Hemnes was also featured in Domino 10 pages before the white one? (twice in the same mag!)
I love the yellow- it is pickled so you can still see the grain and knots.

Sarah,
My favored way of painting is with those inexpensive foam brushes. Four different pieces of furniture and not a single streak yet. They’re cheap, easy to clean, (if you don’t let them dry up) and they’re reusable.

I saw a really pretty 4 poster white bed at Pier One today for $799, but I am sure the ikea bed is cheaper. I, however, have slept on an older version of that ikea 4 poster bed for about 10 years now, and I still love it.

By the way, the picture frame on the bedside table is by a fabulous lady named Paula Prass! She is starting to design fabric now too! Yummy stuff!!!
