My sister, Design Mom, introduced me to these great wooden toys from Prague years ago {here is her post on it.} When I went to Prague I loaded up on them and gave them as gifts. But now I want one for my nursery. Luckily my friend Paul leaves soon for a European vacation and has promised to keep his eyes peeled. This site sells them wholesale in bulk. Anyone know where you can get them stateside? {I really only like the unpainted ones.}

I don’t know about the elephants, but Melissa & Doug make Mei’s favorite wooden toys. The sushi set is her favorite.

i used to be a buyer and i sold the painted ones. i bought them wholesale from http://www.petratoys.com. they sell retail on their website too. it’s very hard to find unpainted ones unless you go to europe. so you’re right having your friend take a look. you might find other cool things on the petra website for your nursery. i’m jealous that you know the baby’s sex. we must be due around the same time (i’m 18 weeks with my 2nd baby) but my doc is making me wait until 20 weeks to find out the sex.
best of luck! JR

That’s funny — you can find the ramp toys in shops all over Brooklyn. I saw some at a toy store in Palo Alto, though. Maybe they’ll ship to you:

Congratulations on your boy-to-be! Having a little boy is fun… though also messy and kind of wild.

I just found these on a site linked from Design Mom and think it might be the same thing? The picture is kind of small, but it looks the same from what I can see.
