How to Watch TV on the Internet

We have been about three months now without our sweet sweet cable tv. Amazingly enough we have been able to keep up just fine on our favorite shows. I now consider myself an expert on watching tv on the internet. Here is my guide to free/cheap tv:

30 Rock This is probably my current favorite. Season one is up online now.
The Office We have to cough up $1.99 for this on iTunes.
Lost I LOVE this show. I think the last 4 or 5 episodes have been sooooo good.
Friday Night Lights I was bored one night and watched a few episodes. It was so addicting that is all I did for the next few days.
The Daily Show Runs forever once you click “play.”
Heroes I’m not into this {too violent} but Paul loves it.

Shows I’m not into but I watch when I’m really really bored.
My Name is Earl
Greys Anatomy
Ugly Betty
South Park {This is tacky but I promise I’m selective about which episodes I watch.}

So after all this there aren’t a ton of shows we really miss. Take that Comcast! I’ll keep that $140/month thank you very much.

We just got rid of TV too, the commercials have gotten too racy for the eyes in my house. I know I can get all this stuff on the internet and through itunes and also netflix (we are waiting for all of season 3 of Lost on netflix) but I miss it. Will the withdrawals go away soon?

Have to second your plug of Friday Night Lights. Is it not one of the best shows ever?? (Also agreed on Lost – more tonight, yay! – the Office and 30 Rock – great taste!) (And I am a total stranger, in case you’re wondering. Love your blog!)

I’m not a regular south park lover either, but did you see the zombie/change episode? it was so funny! ^_^

I haven’t been reading long enough to know why you gave up cable tv or to know if you got rid of the tv as well, but why don’t you just use an antenna? You can get almost all of the shows you watched with an antenna. If you get an HD tv tuner (about $200 or less) you get can HD tv over the air with just an antenna. That is what we do and really our tv looks much better than our friends who have cable.

i looove Friday Nights Lights. i hope it doesn’t get cancelled, we’ll find out this month. i don’t have cable either and I do the SAMe thing as you jordan–watch the free ones, but fork over the money for the Office. I also fork over the money for America’s next top model. and about 10 kids shows for ella. i’m not saving money!

I’m a huge Liz Lemmon fan! 30 Rock is the best. I so look forward to it on Thursday nights. I always laugh just thinking about it.

I agree with everything EXCEPT for Heros…I know it’s violent but it’s sooo good. My husband was a comic book kid and got me into some of the Xman movies, claims this is a copy. I just can’t help but like it.

tacky schmacky…Southpark has some brilliant social commentary. And other times it’s just plain hilarious.

ooohh, Thanks for posting this! I love watching TV online, but I’m too busy/lazy to go fetch all links for the few faves I watch.
I watch when I have time…not just when they broadcast on the network-schedule. I use my TV to watch a movie or a season of fave shows…..
I gave up cable 8 years ago…..they want What? ($$$) for it now !

For a ton more shows and even some movies, try out TV Links! http://tv-links.co.uk/ it’s user-based so the quality isn’t always the greatest, but it’s free so no complaints from me!
