Marie Claire Idées

I signed up for the international magazine swap through Decor8 last month. I received five magazines from Sia who lives in the Netherlands. I will admit, it was a small fortune to ship things but it has been fun to have all these exotic magazines around. My favorite has been Marie Claire Idées. It is a French magazine that is pure eye candy. These images are from their site. Does anyone know if you can get this at US newsstands? I’ve never looked for it before.

It cost me a small fortune as well to ship the magazines to the US, but it was great fun searching for magazines!

If you can’t find a copy of MC Idées at the US newsstands, I am more than happy to send you a copy as soon as the new issue is on newsstands in the Netherlands.

to avoid the small fortune, im coming to San Fran in a month and having lunch with Emily of EmilyStyle, if you dont find it there I can pick up the most recent copy and bring it along with me, which is the month issue that you have already?

i was just browsing their website and i see it is only 4 issues per year so I suppose you probably have the one that is out now. I’m coming again in October so I could bring a new one then.

i know it isnt the same as having it in paper but apparently you can get an online subscription and download the whole thing in PDF form, and you get the first month free!

I know it may not help, but the magazine is in most larger magazine shops here in Canada… or at least here in Ottawa.

Pretty sure Barnes and Nobles has them. I also saw one at Powell’s (in Portland) just last night.

I hate to burst your bubble, Jordan, but these international decor magazines are available at larger Barnes & Nobles or Border’s Books. Just thought I’d let you know so you could save on the shipping!

It’s ok anonymous. You aren’t bursting my bubble. I’m aware of the international mag section. I pick up a few int. magazines on a monthly basis with my membership card at Barnes and Noble. I had never seen MC Idées on the newsstands and I was just asking…:)

You’ll definitely find it in SF, Jordan, because I get mine at the Barnes and Noble in Omaha. A subscription isn’t too expensive ($35ish), and you can get that on Amazon.

yes, you can get it right here in the city: on polk street between vallejo and green streets, there is this tiny newsstand that sells plenty of french magazines. I go there all the time – i’m a french expatriate-. marie claire maison and atmospheres are also two magazines worth checking out! 🙂
by the way, thanks for your blog! it’s a pleasure reading it!

B&N and Borders in larger stores usualy stock Marie Claire Idees.

Although pricey, it is worth it.
I look at past issues often for ideas. You’ll also need a friend fluent in French to translate the project directions.

Check out the MC Idees website (it has very limited information) for hilarious translations into English.
