What to Wear

Paul went up to Sonoma for the whole week to paint in the Sonoma Plein Air Festival. The residents of Sonoma put the artists up in their swank homes for the whole time. I spoke with him last night and he is staying in this sweet guesthouse on this really big estate. Meanwhile I am putting in overtime. 🙁 It sucks to be apart but the good news is at the end of the week I get to go to a fancy gala. I’ve been on the lookout for the last few weeks for something I would consider “elegant attire.” But its harder that you think. I’ve been to a few different fancy events up in wine country and everyone is so casual–way more casual than in the city so I’m not sure what to wear. That is my mission this week, to find a hot dress and some special shoes. {Since I don’t get my husband this week I get to at least spend the money from all the paintings he will sell.}

    Let me know if you are interested in raiding my closet. I have a ton of fancy clothes that rarely get used!

    If I were you, and I had a fancy-ish party to go to, I’d wear this dress. http://www.anthropologie.com/jump.jsp?itemID=11819&itemType=PRODUCT&iSubCat=298&iMainCat=17

    View it on the model and you’ll love it with red shoes.

    Ooh I was looking at the website this morning and picked out that exact dress. The only thing is that my favorite part of the dress would be covered up by a stupid cardigan.

    Huh, try shopping for “festive and fabulous” — especially when it’s for a 50-year-old-man’s birthday party. Can’t wear black to that! Unfortunately black is back in a big way here in NYC. I ended up getting a crinkly-metallic shift and am now in a desperate search for one of those poet blouses with this season’s bell sleeves to go with instead of a wrap, which would just make me look like I’m at the prom.

    Hope you have better luck.
