Moses’ Closet

You know how Harry Potter lives in a closet under the stairs? Well my baby lives in a closet off of the living room. It is a little sad, but he seems to have adapted well and even likes it in there. Here is a little peek of the closet. The artwork is a print of Robert ParkeHarrison. The light fixture I got at the flea market and the crib is a little white metal apartment crib. There are a few more details we need to add but it is mostly done.

I’ll show better pictures of the rest of it when we buy a wide angle lens.

so freaking cute! love that picture with just his eyes peeping over.

i love the simple crib, last year i bought mine from ikea, its basic and low to the ground and i truly couldn’t be happier with the $99 price tag it came with.

    love your blog

that is so funny jordan. he looks like a prisoner in there begging for exspensive toys. when ella is naughty, she goes to our hall closest for a time out. with her princess flashlight of course.

My baby lives in a closet too! Also in a mini-crib. He loves it in there as well. I make myself feel better by telling myself it’s ‘cozy.’

My 21-month-old son is also in a walk-in (NYC), and still loves it! He is even in a toddler bed now:) We also hung a lot of art-work around, but mostly with trees and animals, so it looks a bit like a tree nest:) I love yours!

I read your blog often and never comment, but I just died when I saw that picture and I had to comment. When I spent lots of time sleeping at my sister Eliza’s apartment, she’d move me into my nephew’s room and move poor Theo out to her closet… it definitely wasn’t a walk-in closet, more like a buffer zone between the bedroom and bathroom.

Anyway. Long story short, you have a beautiful child and a very nice closet.

I lived in SF for six years w/ two children sleeping in a closet. When we moved to Denver my oldest was 4.5. The first morning in a real room, we couldn’t find him- he’d gone into the closet with his blanket to sleep! Thanks for the fond memories and beautiful inspiration!

friend recently left the city (NY) to move to a sprawling 6 bedroom with lots & lots of closets her closet child (4 years old) went straight to the walk-in in the master and said "its nice, but hmmm. i think i will like it better blue". they had to explain, no darlin' this is a closet you have your own bedroom now – with a closet!

for a long time(about 7 years) while my parents where building their dream home in N.Cal, we lived in a one bedroom apt over the garage on the property. There were five kids. We all had little closets to sleep in. they were wide enough on one side of the apt for a full size bed, but on the other side of the apt they(the closets) ran the length of the garage ( so they were long) and the main one was all of our space for the clothes. At the very end was a little enclave that fit a crib. That was it. That was my little brothers room for several years. It was cramped and I hated it as I was a teenager. Your post just brought back a lot of memories. good ones!

When I was about 9, my mom wall papered a closet under our staircase for me to play in. I had a small bookcase and a small chalkboard that hung on the wall. I loved pretending to be a teacher and would go in there, close the door, review my homemade “grade-book”, teach lessons, and occasionally yell at my imaginary students. It was awesome!

we live in a loft apartment and my daughter has moved from our closet (set out clothes the night before), to the bathroom (slide the crib left to use the shower, right to use the toilet), and now to our little laundry room (clothes pile up for weeks). it’s not always convenient, but it’s our life! i’m glad to know we’re not alone 🙂

This is so adorable that I had to show it to my mother. She wanted me to let you know that when I was a baby she had me sleep in drawers and baskets, and I turned out fine (relatively ;))

So, so, so cute. And blowing up the print is a brilliant idea. I have a blank wall in my living room yearning for attention …
