I started Freakonomics last year but just picked it up this week to finish the last three chapters. I really really love this book. Half the world has already read it but I especially loved the chapters on what makes a perfect parent {turns out by the time you pick up a parenting book the things that determine how your child turns out have long been determined.} And the chapter on baby names furthered my belief in traditionally spelled baby names. It is a quick read and very interesting.

i love the part about kids and guns vs. kids and pools, and my favorite part was the abortion/crime theory.

I’m with Jared…I also liked the part about schools. Apparently it’s not what school your kids go to, but how interested the parents are in their education that is more important. This was a very good read.

I read this book after everyone I knew had read it (I was cheap so I borrowed one of their copies), so when I was all ready to talk about how fascinated I was, everyone had alreay had that conversation a billion times.

I loved the book, too. Another important point in the chapter on parenting is about having books in the house.
AlisonM — That happens to me ALL THE TIME! Isn’t it annoying?!

I thought it was funny that at the time I was reading that chapter the most popular names by race & gender were being used by my friends who were of that race. Interesting.
