Sometime last year Rebecca sent me an article about the buyer for Anthropologie. We both agreed he had a cool job. So I googled him for more information and found this article. I think it is really interesting. I’m fascinated by it really.

cool article! my friend is one of the home buyers for Anthropologie and he loves it. He can bring his dog to work everyday and was able to expense part of an rv trip to savannah, dollywood & graceland with friends.

You should also read the article from way back the first week of June in the NY Times called “Peter Pan Collars in a Vintage Never-Never Land.” it talks about the anthropologie target customer. Basically it says they try to make the store look and feel like grandma’s house because their 30 something customer never had a stable family life and so they feel comforted buying these clothes and walking around the stores. It is really funny!!! Here is more discussion on it if you are interested. http://rosylittlethings.typepad.com/posie_gets_cozy/2006/06/i_looked_deep_i.html
Also the word is that anthropologie rips off a lot of ideas of independent artists w/o giving them credit. I intended to boycot..but found myself shopping there a few days later:)
