I’m still in a bit of a turkey-coma from Thanksgiving, but now that it’s over the countdown to Christmas is officially ON! Every year we love making advent calendars to celebrate the holiday all month long. This year, we were inspired to create a colorful Christmas ornament advent! We have so many cute favors in our shop that are perfect to put inside these little balls. Read on for the full DIY!
Materials Needed: 24 Clear bulb ornaments, spray paint in 9 colors, mirrorboard, tiny gifts, scissors, hot glue gun, ruler, ¾ inch hole punch, single dot hole punch, twine, adhesive numbers
Step 1: Place the open ornaments dome side up, and spray paint in a variety of colors. Let dry. Apply additional coats as necessary.
Step 2: Once dry, fill all your ornaments with tiny gifts.
Step 3: To make the caps, cut a 3 by 1 ½ inch piece of mirrorboard and slightly curl it with a pencil. Punch out another piece of mirrorboard with a ¾ inch hole punch. Using the single dot hole punch, punch a hole in the center of the ¾ inch circle.
Step 4: Hot glue the ends of the mirror board. Adhere the circle, applying glue from the inside.
Step 5: Loop a piece of twine through the ornament cap, continuing through the top of the bulb. Tie a knot and slide the cap down onto the bulb.
Step 6: Place numbered stickers on the exterior of each ornament 1 to 24.
Step 7: Hang your ornaments up in numeric order. Let the countdown begin!
