Paper Plate Backdrop

I fell in love with this cute backdrop from Dandy and Fine parties when she tagged us on Instagram (she got the plates from our shop!) and I asked her if we could do a version here on Oh Happy Day! It’s brilliant and seriously takes 30 minutes to put up.

It actually reminded me of my dot wall at our last studio. HA! What I love about it is anyone could do it and it’s such a graphic statement. So fun! All you need is paper plates and tape.

Materials: Small Paper Plates + Gaffers Tape

Step 1: Tape the paper plates to the wall with loops of gaffer’s tape. Make sure they’re in a straight grid pattern (we just eyeballed it.)
Step 2: You’re done! Enjoy!

Does the tape affect the paint when you remove the plates? This is crazy adorable!

In my experience as a location manager for commercial filming- yes gaff tape can pull paint off with it. This usually depends on the type of paint finish etc and also on how long the tape is adhered to the wall- if it is up for several days or longer it tends to be more of a risk. We used “blue tape” or painters tape which is safer but not a 100% safe either.

What a great idea. For those of us who are creatively challenged this is fun, easy and has the wow factor one wants for a party or a classroom.

How long does it last before the plates become dirty or lose their color?

I love this idea, so quick and easy for maximum effect, I’d love to try a black and white one, with a few splashes of bronze, thanks for the inspo.
