Happy Mail: Throwback

I’m nearing a milestone birthday this week (30!), so it felt right to celebrate with a nostalgia-themed Happy Mail featuring illustrator Gabrielle Muller. Her work speaks to anyone who came home to Full House on Friday nights or consumed miles of Fruit by the Foot.

Here’s my envelope to Gabrielle:

Happy Mail: Throwback | Oh Happy Day!

As an elementary schooler in the 90s, I have fond memories of square pizza lunches (always with corn—why?).

Also only ever eaten with a spork.

Here’s Gabrielle’s envelope to me:

Happy Mail: Throwback | Oh Happy Day!

Gabrielle writes: “FINALLY the right moment to draw my old Teen Spirit Baby Powder Soft deodorant! I decided to revisit 1997. The good memories of being 13 involve girlfriends, note-passing and BFF necklaces. They do not include gym class, that mean girl Tara from my homeroom, or that kid that threw my flute out the band room window.”

Too good! What are your favorite childhood memories?

This is amazing. 🙂 I could not love that more–especially the front of her envelope to you. Also? We had pizza with a side of corn on Friday. My daughter put the corn ON her pizza. Kids.

These totally bring back the memories!!! I swore by Lip Smackers! haha! I just recently taught my 12 year old how to fold notes to her friends in this fashion. I wasn’t going to be shocked if she said they didn’t pass notes bc they text now, duh. But thankfully she was thrilled about it and showed all her friends. We have to keep this spirit alive somehow, right!?! LOL!! Love it!!!

Wow. All these is pretty nostalgic. Also, how cute are those envelopes? Perhaps one of my favorite childhood memories would be the games that we played when there were no gadgets/apps available yet. You know the old-school games that kids play in the streets and in playgrounds. 🙂

Oh my gosh, this has me in TEARS. I love this. Especially that Hansons sticker, and the memories all of this brings back…I am starting to think of glitter sticks, and all that good stuff. I just blogged about my favourite teen scent coming back for a few weeks from Bath and Body Works…so this ties in well. I turned 30 last year and wish I celebrate this way. But perhaps 35? Love, Lula Mae aka http://www.on57and5th.com

    • Oops… my blog post about nostalgia was http://www.on57thand5th.com 😉 but I think I should add about friendship and swapping glitter sticks now 😉

Love the lunch tray. Happy memories of square sausage pizza with a peanut butter cookie at my junior high. Chased down with a carton of Orange Aid. Can almost smell the Right Guard, Brut aftershave and Alliage perfume.

Ahh I’m right there with you! Just turned the big 3-0 last month! I did an adult cake smash to celebrate haha.
Those envelopes are so cuuute!! I miss milky pens, butterfly hair clips, and playing snake on my Nokia phone. Snake was the best. They should totally bring that back.
