Apparently I can’t help but see pool toys and think “these would make awesome giant popsicles!” These ones can be grouped together to make a fun photo backdrop wall or used as decor for your next pool party.
Supplies: Scissors, pencil, clear packing tape, string, balloon pump, ruler, brown cardboard, various inflatable pool toys, water balloons and cellophane.
Step 1: Inflate the pool toys. I tried to find ones that looked most like popsicles and candy.
Step 2: Draw and cut the cardboard into giant popsicle sticks, about 5″ wide and 18″ long. Round off one of the ends.
Step 3: Attach to the back of the pool toy using packing tape. Since this pool toy had plastic handles on one side, I chose to make that side the back.
Step 4: Attach pieces of string onto the back of the pool toy, also using packing tape. Depending on the size/weight of the toy, use more or less pieces of string. (For the giant air mattress popsicle, I had to use 3 strings to carry the weight, but the mini round one only needed one.)
Step 5: Use masking tape and a step ladder to attach the strings to the ceiling, close to a wall. Repeat steps 1 to 5 with various pool toys and arrange them in a group to make a backdrop for photos! (Wrap water-wings individually in cellophane to form bon-bons; blow up water balloons and put a bunch of them in a cellophane bag as jellybeans; get creative with the pool toys you have available to you.)

I’m seriously obsessed with this idea. Backdrops are all the rage right now with how social media is and people are always wanting a cute background! I think it would be fun to put Polaroid cameras near the backdrop to give it a photo booth feel. Absolutely love this.

Love this! Can you share where the ice cream cone (bubble??) necklaces are from? Thanks in advance!
Hi Ginger – you’re right, the ice cream cone necklaces are bubbles! I bought them from Dollarama, a dollar store here in Canada.

totally random, but I love that dress! Where did you get it?
My mom is an amazing seamstress and actually made the dress a few years ago! Unfortunately, I can’t remember exactly what pattern she used.
