Painterly Drink Tags

My husband and I love entertaining, which tends to involve lots of glasses, but I’ve never been able to find attractive tags that will keep everyone’s drink labelled. These are so simple to make and great to have on hand for your next dinner party – it’s easy to make a bunch so you’ll always have a stack ready to go. You don’t have to be an artist to add a painterly touch to cocktail hour!

You will need: 2″ circle paper punch, .5″ circle paper punch, scissors, paintbrush, pen, craft paint in bright colors, and watercolor paper

Step 1: Beginning with the lightest color paint, add lots of water to the paint and then loosely brush over the paper. Make sure there is some space between the brushstrokes. Add more water as needed to let the paint bleed and run organically over the page.
Step 2: Repeat step 1 with the rest of the colors, moving from the lightest color to the darkest or most vibrant. Let each color mostly dry before adding the next.
Step 3: Let the paper dry fully. Punch out circles with the 2″ punch. Then punch .5″ circles inside the tags to make a hole.
Step 4: Snip into the hole to be able to place the tag around a stemmed glass.
Step 5: Write your guests’ names on the tags.

Great idea! Another step is that you could laminate the paper first (you can get peel and stick laminate paper) and then punched it out. That way you could probably write your name and then wipe it off and reuse it for another time.

Yes! So many designs can apply here! The possibilities are endless. How fun. Maybe even fine sandpaper could be used for a beach party theme.
