For April Fool’s Day, we like pranks that are easy to pull off at the last minute. Here are a few of our favorites, most of which use things from around the house.
Googly Eyes – This one makes me laugh. Stick googly eyes on things. Like a fruit basket on the kitchen table or everything inside your fridge!
Giant Pencils – This one will need a little advance planning (unless you keep giant pencils on the ready.) My kids crack up when they see me writing with a huge pencil. Then send it to school with your kids to do their school work.
Frozen Cereal – This is my favorite. It’s so easy and the look of surprise on your kids faces is so funny. Throw a bowl of cereal in the freezer the night before. When your kids come to the breakfast table, they’ll be confused when their spoon is not working.

I love the whole fruit bowl with googly eyes!
I put googly eyes on everything in my preschooler’s lunch box last year and she could was so excited when she opened it up at lunch time. The only draw back was that she refused to eat anything as it all looked so cute!
We did the frozen cereal last year too, plus googly eyes in the bathroom, pennies glued to the floor, and made a fake milk spill out of dried glue which was left on my husband’s laptop! The kids had so much fun with it all.

We did the frozen cereal last year and my husband filmed my kids trying to eat. It was hilarious! They were so confused and a little annoyed. They love to watch themselves on our little home video now, they laugh and laugh! I highly recommend it!

Sally, when I was skimming through the comments, I mis-read “pennies glued to the floor” as …well, something else. And I thought, “That is a bold April Fool’s prank! I wonder how that would go over here …” and then I looked more closely and said, “Oh. Pennies.” 🙂

Last year I froze the tortilla soup I had made for dinner – with spoons in them so they looked all ready to eat. At the last second I poured a tiny bit of hot soup over top to hide the frozen part. Tricked the two kids and the husband!

If you want to fool your colleagues, get to the office before them and put a piece tape over the sensor on the bottoms of their computer mouses. Their expressions are hilarious while they try to figure out the problem. One even called IT to take a look. 😀
This was a bit risky but anther good one, I raised my bosses desk chair up all the way so that when he sat down he actually sat high up! He was a good sport, luckily. :-p

These are way too fun, Jordan! Thank you for the great ideas, as always.
I’m going to put a tiny piece of scotch tape over one of the bathroom faucet spouts (so the water would splash — I’ll leave enough opening so it doesn’t splash too much :^)… I’m pretty sure my three men (2 boys+1 adult male, like you :o) will not mind my prank… It’ll be my turn for once! Haha.

The frozen cereal idea is my favorite, too! I used it this past week for April Fools. My older daughters were confused/amused. My 8 year old tried to pry the spoon out. It was so funny. Thank you for sharing! 🙂
