Valentine Ribbon Treats

When I saw these miniature heart boxes at Target, I couldn’t help but scoop them all up. Have you decided on what you’ll give your friends and loved ones this Valentine’s day? Try your hand at these DIY prize ribbons – you can fill the heart compartment with candies, small toys, or love notes!

Supplies: Paper/card stock, crepe paper, safety pins, washi tape, ribbon, glue stick, pencil, hot glue gun, heart shaped boxes, small candy/treats

Step 1: For the accordion prize ribbons: Cut a long strip of paper, about 1 1/2″ by 11″. You can also add a stripe of washi tape if you wish.
Step 2: Accordion fold the strip of paper.
Step 3: Use a glue stick to attach the two ends together.
Step 4: Collapse the accordion into a circle as shown below and apply hot glue into the center to secure.
Step 5: Cut two pieces of paper to form the ribbon tails.
Step 6: Hot glue the tails to the back of the folded circle. Hot glue the heart box onto the front.
Step 7: Use washi tape to attach the safety pin onto the back of the brooch.
Step 8: For the fringed prize ribbons: Cut out a circle (bigger than the heart box) and fringe the edges.
Step 9: Cut a length of crepe paper and fringe the edge.
Step 10: Gather the crepe paper and hot glue on the center of the fringed circle. Finish by adding tails and a safety pin, as before.
Step 11: Fill the heart boxes with treats!
