Gold Party

It gets to that point when your children are old enough to know to ask for cartoon parties (ie: Ninja Turtles or Spiderman.)  So this year when my son uncharacteristically asked for a “Golden Party” I took the theme and ran with it before he could change his mind.

Gold Party | Oh Happy Day!

My favorite party ideas are ones that make a big impact but don’t take forever. Anyone can spend a lot of time and money and make an awesome party. For me, the best ideas are the simple and easy ones. This golden party decor fits squarely in that category. It is inexpensive and took less than 10 minutes to hang but it transformed the room it to a shiny paradise that would impress 5-year-old critics and adults alike. I bought several packages of the gold curtains to hang all over the room. I also bought a few gold tablecloths to make the room shiny and over-the-top. We had a treasure hunt around the neighborhood and filled the chest with gold coins and boxes that look like gold bars filled with toys then blew out sparklers while wearing gold crowns. Our golden boy was super happy.

We also just did a Golden Birthday for my daughter Ella (she was 10 on the 10th). If I had known how fantastic the golden curtains would be, I would have ordered twice as many, they make such a great impact! The best thing that I found for our party, I think, was gold food spray paint from Wilton. It was really really pretty on the cake, super sparkly. I also was really impressed with the sparkly gold heat transfer paper that I found. We were going to a water park so I packed all the treats in tote bags (to give as a favor) and cut out the words ‘She’s Golden’ and lots of stars and ironed them on the bags. It turned out so well.

Such a unique party idea. Makes me want to have a solid colour as my 21st birthday party theme!

Thank your son for inspiring me 🙂
