The most wonderful time of the year is almost here!!! Wrapping presents is almost my favorite part of the holiday. I usually start to stock up on supplies mid-November. I order ribbon and keep my eye out for good wrapping paper etc. Once you have a good wrapping supply stash it’s so easy to wrap pretty presents. Scotch® Brand asked me to share a few ideas for wrapping small gifts and today I’m showing 5 of my favorite ideas that are easy to recreate at home. I like to start by picking a color palette. Then I top them with unexpected objects or use the wrapping paper in different ways. What’s your favorite way to wrap small gifts? If you’ve got a great idea, you could win $5,000 by entering Scotch’s Most Gifted Wrapper Contest by 12/10/14. (Void where prohibited and restrictions apply.) Click here for official rules. Click through below for all 5 of our gift wrap ideas!
Bon Bon Style
I like this style because it looks like candy! The key here is to always leave a ton of extra paper. When all wrapped up they look so sweet!
Materials: Wrapping Paper, Gift Box, Scissors, Scotch® Giftwrap Tape, Ribbon
Step 1: Lay your box face down on the wrapping paper. Cut a piece of paper that’s wide enough to wrap around the gift. Make sure it’s long enough to have plenty of excess on the sides.
Step 2: Tape one side of the paper to the length of the box. Pull the paper tightly around the box and tape it to the top of the box.
Step 3: Gently crease the edges of the paper around the sides of the box and slowly fold it inward (if you fold too quickly, the paper may tear.) Get it as tight as you can.
Step 4: Use ribbon to tie off the edges and hold everything in place.
Step 5: Cut off any excess ribbon & paper.
Honeycomb Style
This is a hipper version that your grandma’s sticky bows. Just grab some of these from a party supply store and you’re set.
Materials: Wrapping Paper, Gift Box, Scissors, Scotch® Magic Tape, Honeycombs,Scotch® Double Sided Tape
Step 1: Wrap the gift with regular wrapping paper and Gift Wrap Tape.
Step 2: Add Double Sided Tape to either side of the folded honeycomb (even if there is already adhesive, I add extra tape to keep it in place.)
Step 3: Place directly onto the top center of your gift and press down to seal.
Color Block Style
Can’t decide what color to use for your present? Use both with this color block style!
Materials: Wrapping Paper (in a variety of colors/styles,) Gift Box, Scissors, Scotch® Double Sided Tape, Scotch® Giftwrap Tape, Ribbon
Step 1: Lay your box face down on your base wrapping paper. Cut a piece of paper that’s wide enough and long enough to wrap around the gift. Cut off any excess.
Step 2: Use Double Sided Tape to add a different color/pattern of wrapping paper diagonally on top of your original piece. Make sure the side that will be visible hasn’t been cut with scissors (you want this to be straight.) Cut off any excess so that it remains in the same shape as the original piece.
Step 3: Wrap the gift like normal.
Step 4: Finish with ribbon and/or a bow.
Fresh Greenery Style
This is the most simple but I love pulling a little greenery from a branch at tying it on with a ribbon. So fresh!
Materials: Wrapping Paper, Gift Box, Scissors, Scotch® Giftwrap Tape, Ribbon, Small Olive Branches (or any pretty greenery from your backyard)
Step 1: Wrap the gift with regular wrapping paper and Gift Wrap Tape.
Step 2: Tape one strand of ribbon around the length of the package.
Step 3: Slip the olive branch through the ribbon so that it holds the branch snuggly in place.
Letter Style
I love doing monogram wrapping for little kids. They love finding the box with their letter on it!
Materials: Wrapping Paper, Gift Box, Scissors, Scotch® Magic Tape, Scotch® Double Sided Tape, Printed Letters, Pencil, Cardstock
Step 1: Wrap the gift with regular wrapping paper and Giftwrap Tape.
Step 2: Cut out your letter and trace it onto a piece of colored cardstock. Cut the letter out of the cardstock.
Step 3: Use Double Sided Tape to attach the letter to the top of the gift.
