I’m a huge fan of Merrilee Liddiard and was so excited to buy her new book, Playful. (Get it here.) It is such a great craft book! It’s filled with fun DIYs & crafts that you can make together with your kids. I bought two copies(!) and it’s completely beautiful. Today Merrilee is sharing these cat and pumpkin plate masks for Halloween that are inspired by the projects in her new book Today, we’re giving away 2 copies of Playful for Oh Happy Day readers. Make sure you click through below for all the contest details and to see the instructions for these funny little masks!
Paper Plate Cat and Pumpkin Masks by Merrilee Liddiard
These simple paper plate masks are not only frightfully festive but are made from supplies you most likely already have on hand! A perfect afterschool craft for your little trick-or-treater’s next Halloween bash!
Materials: Paper Plates, Cat & Pumpkin Template, Colorful Carstock, Adhesive (such as a tape runner or glue), Straw (for holding up mask)
Step 1: Using the template, cut out all cat face shapes (if you have hole punches you can use those for the eyes, cheeks and whisker dots as an alternative to the template)
Step 2: Measure where eyes will be and cut out two eye holes acording to the size of eye templates. Paint the plate and let dry.
Step 3: Adhere face shapes starting with eye lashes, then eyes and so on.
Step 4: Continue adhereing features sticking ears behind the back of the plate.
Step 5: Tape on the straw for easing holding. Repeat with the pumpkin templates for a goofy scarecrow inspired goard. Enjoy playing with your new masks!
(Giveaway is now CLOSED. Our winner will be contacted via email. Thanks!)
And here’s how to win a copy of Playful for yourself:
1) Visit Merrilee’s site to read more about Playful: Fun Projects to Make With + For Kids
