Today’s costumes might be my favorite. We did Little Fashion Icons and Little Artists costume series. Today, we’re showing how you can replicate the looks of some of our favorite musicians. These photos crack me up so much. Click through for more photos and all the details!
Bob Dylan // The Bob Dylan wig we found on Amazon is the highlight of this costume. It’s perfect. Pair this with a harmonica, guitar and sunglasses and you’ll look exactly like the legend.
Materials: Bob Dylan Wig, Harmonica & Holder, Wayfarer Sunglasses, Guitar, White Shirt & Denim Vest
Johnny Cash & June Carter // I love this costume idea for a couple. For Johnny, we chose mainly black clothing items. You could also add a black cowboy hat. For June, we kept it simple. We picked out a vintage dress that we tied with a statin ribbon. You could tease the hair and flip out the ends. For both, don’t forget to carry a guitar and microphone around with you.
Materials: Johnny – Black Bandana, Black Western Style Shirt, Black Pants, Cowboy Boots, Belt Buckle, Guitar, Microphone; June – Vintage Dress, Satin Ribbon, Guitar, Microphone
Stevie Nicks // For this costume, you’ll be wearing lots of black. We purchased a witch costume as the base, then accessorized with a white vest, a piece of black ribbon around the neck and a black shawl. If you don’t have long blonde hair, you can easily get ahold of a wig to replicate Stevie’s look. Top with a black crocheted beret. And don’t forget your microphone!
Materials: Black Beret, Long Blonde Wig, White Vest, Witch Costume, Black Ribbon, Black Shawl, Microphone

As a wife of an old rock and roll “has been ” haha! I think it’s very clever. As a mom , I think it’s important to expose our kids to good music. These are perfect!

I love the Bob Dylan costume. These remind me of my sons one man band costume from a couple years back.

Are these costumes for kids, really? Or for the parents? What child even knows who any of these people are? Parents, why not let your kids pick a costume that lets the child have fun and is represents something they enjoy? Or something from at least this decade?!
overbearing, controlling, selfish and over the top hipster.
Hi Margaret,
They are just fun ideas for costumes. Kids definitely make cuter models for the blog though. xo-Jordan

Thanks, Jordan, for another great series of fun Halloween costumes.
In Jordan’s defense: Sometimes kids really do want to dress up as musicians from another era because they happen to listen to and enjoy that music. My kid would rather dress up like Rodriguez, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Miles Davis, any of the Beatles, Dido, Sheila Chandra, Yo Yo Ma, Ella Fitzgerald, or Beethoven — all of whom are truly his favorite musicians. We try having him put on other music on his kid stereo, but he quickly changes the CD to one of his favorites or shuts it off completely. Believe me, we’re not hipsters. Not even close!

While my son will be a ninja this year for Halloween, he absolutely loves Johnny Cash (he is 5) and would be totally into that costume! And these do provide great ideas for adults. I’m still trying to figure out an easy costume for me!
