Lately, I’ve been really inspired by beautiful envelopes. It makes me want to send out more snail mail! Wouldn’t these be a fun surprise to find in your mailbox?? (PS – Stamped envelope liners.)

I love when the packaging is half the fun of what’s inside. Makes one slow down and relish the experience.
Totally!

All of these are SO cute; I can’t even pick a favorite! I do love the animal illustrations, though. 🙂

I love the simplicity and beauty of the brush stroke one! I think I might steal that idea for my wedding invitations. I’m already using “watercolor” vectors on the invitation so using real watercolors on the envelope will just add to the beauty.
Thanks for the inspiration!

I always wonder what the USPS thinks of this. I’ll have to ask my mother-in-law, who is a mail carrier, but someone told me these take forever to get through the mail, if they get there at all. Especially the ones with fancy fonts sent to other countries.

My thesis project for an MFA in book arts featured oversized mailers with calligraphy and vintage stamps, and it definitely requires some strategizing at the post office but I personally haven’t had any come up missing yet. I do wonder if it creates extra difficulty for carriers, but my aunt called to say her mail carrier was so happy to deliver hers; hopefully they delight as much as they create difficulty : )

These are so beautiful. I make the outside of my envelopes and packages very plain because mail often gets stolen here in South Africa.

I love this and I never would have thought of crafting my own envelopes instead of using the plan white ones. Thank you for the tip!

I noticed that post in France is a lot more strict than in Canada.. I had mail sent over at my boyfriend’s house because I was gone for the summer and it never made it because my name wasn’t written on the mail box! I think the letter to the elephant would not make it, neither would the lovely owl enveloppe 🙁

This is so darling. Brings me back to the year in high school I moved from Portland to New York and my best friend would send me letters in envelopes crafted from magazines. Man I miss the days of sending real letters. This is a good reminder to start crafting envelopes with my daughter. I think it’s time she got a pen pal…
