I’m so excited for the Halloween Costumes we worked on this year! These would probably make better adult costumes but kids definitely make cuter models. They are super easy to put together and they look very chic! A super big thanks to my friend Fergi Johnson who put all these together and to Sarah at Modern Kids for the awesome photos. PS – Make sure you don’t miss our costumes based on Bill Cunningham, Karl Lagerfeld, and Iris Apfel in Part 2 of this series!

Anna Wintour // For Anna, we kept things simple and classic. This is a great costume if you already have a bob haircut – just make sure the ends of your hair are perfectly curled under. We found a few classic accessories at the thrift store and paired them with a simple dress. Then, make sure to carry around the latest edition of Vogue.
Materials Needed: Big Collar or Necklace, Sunglasses, Vintage Earrings, Sheath Dress, Vogue Magazine
Grace Coddington // Grace’s red hair is iconic for her look. We used this wig and brushed it out so the curls weren’t so perfect. We paired it with a blue jacket, white shirt, black pants and black shoes.
Materials Needed: Curly Red Wig, Dark Lipstick, Blue Jacket, White Shirt
André Leon Talley // André is known for his love of fur, so we used an old faux fur coat to recreate his look. Our coat was meant for an adult, so we were able to cut off the sleeves and fashion a hat. But you could also buy a hat online or at a thrift store. Wear a button up shirt and tie underneath along with a big pair of sunglasses.
Materials Needed: Fur Hat, Sunglasses, Fur Coat, Button Up Shirt, Tie

Cute. Little kids will have no idea who these people are, though. They want to be Spiderman and Disney princesses. “Fashion icons” won’t mean anything to them.

these are so good. we’re sticking with elvis, but after seeing these i think we need to elevate a bit, maybe geled back hair and sideburns. hubba.

I agree with Issa—this definitely looks more like costumes for parents than for kids, as cute as they may be.

These are fantastic! I’m obsessed with that fur collar with pearl trim in the Anna Wintour look – is it vintage or possibly available for purchase somewhere?

Oh my gosh I love them ALL! What great ideas! And definitely serving as inspiration for my adult costume. I would absolutely love to be able to pull off Ms. Wintour but, alas, I don’t think that’s in the cards for me. – Leith

Oh man these are too funny. I particularly like the Anna Wintour one. My Halloween costumes were never this creative. I’m pretty sure I was a butterfly every year from the age of 3 to 7.

I agree with some posters – I don’t even know who most of these people are, so a 5-year-old is definitely not going to have a clue. Definitely more for the parents & the other adults than the kid.

You guys, they said in the introduction that “These would probably make better adult costumes but kids definitely make cuter models.” I think they realize that a kid wouldn’t pick to be Anna Wintour. It’s just an idea, and an adorable one. Great job Oh Happy Day. So funny and darling.

My four-year-old was all excited about being Anna Wintour last month when she spotted her on pinterest. She shares the haircut and her name, but just changed her costume last week to Dora! So sad. Maybe seeing this will get her back on track. Ha! Great job, ladies!

LOVE the Grace Coddington costume! Hilarious! It’s brilliant to dress up kids as recognizable adults. SO many in the fashion world. A Hamish Bowles could be a possibility too! Thank you!
