Wheatgrass In Painted Pots DIY

Every spring I love growing pots of wheatgrass to give as gifts and just to have around the house for springtime. My sister Design Mom actually taught me this trick a long time ago. (read instructions on how to grow the grass here.) But it is still one of my favorite things to do in the Springtime. I paint a few pots with designs or quotes about springtime and take them to friends. It’s perfect for the time when it is almost-Spring-but-still-cold.  And, since wheatgrass only needs a few days to grow – ours will be ready in time for Easter!

Material: Terra cotta pot, soil, wheat grass seeds, acrylic paint, paint pen
Step 1: Paint the terra cotta pot
Step 2: We used a paint pen to write a spring poem on the outside
Step 3: Plant the wheat grass
Step 4: Watch it grow!

Love wheat grass and love the pots you painted. Would you be so kind as to share the poem printed on the clay pots?

This is such a lovely idea! I have painted some pots in pastell and I think with Wheatgrass it is going to scream “Hello Spring”! 🙂

I remember the activities committee in my dorm had this as an activity one year…my pot was not as cute as yours though. I like your gift idea…i need to get some of my friends to invite me over so I can bring them some of these!

we grow wheat grass for easter each year. done it in jars, done it in glass cake stands and this year we’ve made a small hill over a cup and will reenact the tomb/calvarys hill with our wheat grass. Just planted ours on Monday night for FHE and it is already about 5 cms tall.
