I got inspired last week and now all I want to do is make these fun party hats. Just like the 3-Layer Cake Hat we made on Monday, this Birthday Candle Party Hat is simple to build with supplies you have at home. This would be sweet for a young child’s birthday and really is super easy to make.
Click through for directions for the whole post. The dotted background was from this potato dot artwork post.
Materials: Paper plate, paper towel tube, acrylic paint, colored tape, tissue paper, thin elastic cording, quick dry tacky glue, exacto knife, scissors, paintbrush
Step 1: Cut the paper towel tube on half.
Step 2: Paint the paper plate and the cardboard tube. Let it dry.
Step 3: Add stripes on the cardboard tube candle with the colored tape. (You could use paint as well).
Step 4: Glue the candle to the middle of the plate.
Step 5: Create the flame for the candle by cutting a rectangle of tissue paper and crumple it up until it looks like a flame. Glue it into the top on the candle.
Step 6: Poke two small holes into the sides of the plate using the exacto blade, and tie the elastic in place.
Ps: Remember the floral party hats? Those were some of my favorite.

This is awesome! You could totally incorporate a ring toss game for the kids with this hat too. =)

This is a great idea for one of my kids’ birthday party! This could save me money plus my kids would also love to craft their own party hats. I am planning on something glittery and princess-themed as one of my kids who’s going to celebrate her birthday loves fairy tales and princesses.
