Here is another advent calendar. This one involves little boxes and chalkboard paint plus a little tree to hang them on. This is super easy and inexpensive to make. You can make the whole thing in about an hour. See more of our advent calendar ideas right here.
Click through for instructions.
Materials Needed: Chalkboard Spray Paint, 25 2″ Boxes, Chalk, Ribbon, Mini Christmas Tree, Prizes and Small Toys
Step 1: Lay out flattened boxes outside on newspaper. Spray them with chalkboard paint and wait for them to dry. Once dry, turn them over and spray the other side with chalkboard paint and let dry.
Step 2: Fold up boxes and write numbers 1-25 in chalk on the front.
Step 3: Fill with prizes and tie each box onto the tree.

Ages ago I bought a pre-made advent house, but its lovely tutorials like this that make me smack my head and think ‘why didn’t I think of that?’
Quick question, do you put anything inside, or are they empty? When my husband and I put little treats for each other in ours…

You could put an activity to do or blessing to give instead of a throwaway plastic object
ie. decorate Christmas cookies or take canned food to a food drive. the Advent tree and chalk boxes are beautiful.

I love this idea & the red & white ribbon really pops with the chalkboard spray paint. I didn’t even know chalkboard spray paint existed until now. I’ve been living under a rock!
