One of my favorite places in San Francisco is Miette. It is a ridiculously cute baked goods and candy store. (They have a few locations but my favorite is the Hayes Valley shop.) When people come to San Francisco its one of the first places I send people. I needed some photos last week and they kindly let us stop in and take some shots. If you get a chance to go some of my favorite things to try are: gourmet whoppers, vanilla macarons, homemade caramels, brown sugar licorice, and the chocolate covered gummy bears. They also have a cookbook and give classes sometimes too!

This looks delightful! It’s like Dylan’s Candy Bar in New York, but less overwhelming. There’s just something about candy stores that makes you feel like a kid again. I’ll have to see about finding a good candy store when I move.

Is it a tiny bit wrong that one of the main reasons I wanted to go on holiday to San Francisco was to visit Miette? I wasn’t disappointed when I finally got there! I love the cookbook too. 🙂

I have been a fan of Miette in SF for a while but just went to their lovely shop in Oakland….perfect! They had an awesome abstract sculpture made from paper plates and napkins that I loved. Their shortbreads are outstanding-especially the lavender and the chocolate sable….can’t wait to go back and also explore Oakland more. Old Oakland is brimming with creativity – so much indie talent in the pop up shops on 9th…unique works from local artists and designers–great little day trip from sf.
