Picnic Season
I’m back! I took an unexpected blogging break. Paul’s parents have been in town and it has been so awesome to have free and willing babysitters around the clock. Paul and I have been running around the city like two little kids. We’ve spent every night walking until the wee hours of the morning. And during the day we’ve been: taking intensive French classes, riding all over Paris on bikes (Paris has an awesome public bike system), and we’ve been having picnics and eating ice cream like crazy. I do not want this to end, it has been paradise! Yesterday after French class we ended up on Ile St Louis. On the right bank of the island it is quiet and serene so we had a picnic. While we were sitting there a little mama duck came by with her babies. Adorable! We followed up the strenuous activity of picnicking with an ice cream cone. (I think its an actual law that you have to purchase an icecream cone while on Ile St Louis. Ha!)
(ps: Watch later this week for how to create the perfect Parisian picnic.)

Sounds amazing and gorgeous! Parent-sitters are the best.
Your dress is so pretty!
I continue to just bubble with jealousy over your life right now. It seems like a movie!
We are SO on the same wavelength! I just wrote about picnic season last week! It’s one of my favorite parts of summer

I was in Paris for Semana Santa in April this year and Ill St. Louis was my absolute favorite. We ate at the cutest little crepe shop, slowly wandered the streets and ate paninis along the river. I LOVE Paris and am enjoying reading about your life there. If I spoke French instead of Spanish I’d definitely be spending my 2 years abroad in Paris instead of Madrid. It’s the best city.
I was in Paris in April and visited this same spot! I also got one of those street food panini/soda combo deals and it was amazing (and affordable!). Though the Cokes can be quite pricey as I’m sure you’ve noticed!
I went to Paris a few years ago and we stayed on Ile St. Louis. It was SO incredible!! And you’re so right about Berthillon ice cream. Mandatory.
Did you go to Epicerie Ile St. Louis? It’s this little shop with mustards, jams, etc. and it’s just gorgeous and yummy!
My favorite spot in the entire city…so serene. I hope you went to Berthillon…so good!!
Happy Picnic-ing…
isn’t it amazing how much better a day can get with a simple ice cream cone? i just tried a tart blueberry yogurt cone on the 4th and it made my already wonderful day even more delightful.
your dress is amazing! exactly what I’m looking for… may I ask where it is from?
Ahhh… what a dream you are living! I cannot wait to get back to visit Paris again.
I love your dress in these shots. Actually, I love all the dresses and skirts that you don. I’m currently nursing now and I find it REALLY difficult to wear dresses because hardly anything is nursing-friendly. Any tips or can you reference the dress you have on in these shots? I really miss dresses. Wearing a skirt and nurse-friendly shirt to church each week (with the exception of two dresses from Express that miraculously work) is so boring.
Man, beautiful, beautiful. I am jealous. Not going to lie.
love the pictures! glad to hear you’re having fun
Oh what a sweet day!
oh! ca reminds me great memories! I celebrate my bachelorette party right there! with Montbazillac and foie gras! a great moment!
Your dress and Paris gorgeous
Ha! Looks like a Diet Coke in that pic?!
Beautiful times…
We also had the most amazing time visiting Ile St Louis and eating icecream when we were there in 2006. We got a whole bunch of pictures on that exact staircase you were at. In our pictures, my niece is covered in chocolate icecream…. thanks for the reminder of our trip as well.
Where is that pretty dress from?
NICE! You guys sound like you have so much energy…how do you do it!? I am so impressed that you can play all day and all night…I need some of that in my life!
What lovely photos…can’t wait for the Paris picnic how-to! You know, I’d be willing to move to Paris and be a nanny…then you can run around Paris with your hubby all day every day. hehe…. Seriously though, it must have been really lovely to have your in-laws visit. Glad you’re back to blogging
Beautiful shots, and yes! Ile St. Louis is a little haven of tranquility in the midst of Paris…..
Where are those cute ballet flats from and are they comfortable for running around Paris all day?
aw. these are really pretty. reminds me of so many movies…
This makes me unbearably excited for my trip there this fall. Looking forward to the picnic guide!
(PS: I MUST know where you got that dress!!)
I say take all the time you can! Looks like you’re having a fabulous time!
I have those exact Repettos and am wearing them right now. Look like a wonderful afternoon.

Lovely place and romantic
A picnic in Paris sounds lovely! I hope there were a few extra baguettes for the family of canards?
Where did you get your cute dress?
Oh it sounds as if you and the hubby are having a wonderful time…
Hope you had a wonderful date with your hubby…. very nice place!
Sounds romantic and fun!
Did you know any French before moving to Paris? How is your French now that you’ve been living in the country for awhile?
Cheers,
Kristina
I love your dress as well!! Where is it from? And where are you taking French classes? Ice cream on that tiny island was one of my favorite ice cream experiences.
hahahaha – diet coke!!
and what a sexy, unstaged pic of you and your iphone. gosh, you’re so creative.
Is this the exact spot where they filmed ratatouille?… it’s gotta be. You are living the dream.
I can totally relate to how you feel about living in Paris. My husband & I moved to Hanoi with our 2 year old last year. And now its time to go back.. I have loved every moment we spent here, the biking, the lakes, the little bit of french everywhere, the museums..I did not want this to end but it has & a bit prematurely at that.. Make the most of your stay there..And keep writing. Paris is on my destination list for 2011. Loved your blog !
Love the posts on Paris!! Just started following your blog and really enjoy it! I was wondering if it’s possible to have to link to your Guide to Paris fixed? I was trying to open it and couldn’t. I was planning on visiting Paris in the fall and from all the comments it seems like your guide to the city of lights is really awesome!
sorry to add to the chorus of dress requests, but I’d also love to know where yours came from!
yes, where is the dress from? (and your flats?) c’est tres chic!
This is one of the best blog posts Ive read in a long time, anywhere! I was completely transported and cant stop thinking about it…Im dreaming of Paris now. Thanks for filling my head with new dreams and inspiration!
