Happy Weekend!

Ah! I’m ready for the weekend. It will be mostly boring stuff like setting up our new apartment but I do have a few fun things planned. I am going out with some friends this evening, Paul and I are going to a movie (with French subtitles!) and I am going to try a few more thrift stores. I went yesterday and scored some great things. I’ll share pictures next week. I hope you have a happy weekend planned. Are you doing anything fun?

ps: We’ve been devouring kumquats like crazy. We usually buy them during their short season in California and was stoked to see them at the market. I had never eaten a kumquat before I moved to San Francisco but they are one of my favorite things to eat. You eat them whole with the skin on and they have so much flavor. The are a bit tart so just thinking about them is making my mouth water.

I also write for Babble.com. Here are my posts this week.

This adorable French toy line I discovered this week. See what I bought!
These are the best. No, really.
I want to dress like this 10 year old.
I preordered this book yesterday. (Porn for moms!)
Are any photographers you know having babies? Well this is for them.

    Hello,
I was so inspired by your photos of fruit stands that I did a silk screen of oranges. A little something to brighten the bleak gray of a Chicago winter

Then I see today you have kumqats! Which is great.

I've been getting all sorts of great ideas from your posts!

    Thank you thank you

I love kumquats! Yummy and so pretty in a bowl in the kitchen. I envy even the most mundane things you get to do in Paris, where even the "boring basics" are infused with magic. Have fun!

    I've decided if I were ever a fruit – I'd be a kumquat.

I can't believe you said setting up your apt would be boring. I live for that madness! If you'd like I can stop by & help you. I'm also good for helping people pack to move . . .

We have two kumquat trees in our backyard and I love them. Of course they are wonderful to just pop in your mouth whole — like a grape, but since we have so many of them I am always looking for new ways to eat them. One favorite discovery is to slice them and serve in spinach salad with craisins and candied pecans. YUM!
