I have bicycles on the brain. I love these English made Vintage Raleigh Superbe bicycles. via A Continuous Lean We are waiting to get bikes until we move off Nob Hill. We need a bigger apartment and to live in a flatter area of town.

I love Raleigh bicycles! when my parents got engaged my dad couldn't afford to get my mom a ring so he bought them both used Raleigh bicycles so they could ride through life together.

i'm totally one of those people who would buy a bike just to look hip (cool people ride bikes fyi) and never use it but leave it in my living room so other people would come in and say "oh, you have a bike. i didn't know you were cool." then i'd say "why yes, yes i am!"

I hunted for a bike like this for almost a year (purchased an old Schwinn to fix up only to be told that the parts aren't made for it anymore- argh!) I finally saved up to buy a new Raleigh bike that is based on this classic style. I am so in love! See it here.

I found a '74 Superbe in August of '08, in the stack of donated bikes a local advocacy agency had for one of their sweat-equity programs. I rebuilt the wheels using modern rims, replaced the abused/neglected saddle with a new Brooks B-66, installed new handlebar and stem to get my riding position more comfortable, new brake levers and pads, all new cables, and fresh grease in the headset, front hub and crank bearings. Sadly, the bike had been neglected for several years, and needed all that work to be truly rideable again, but it's a joy to have now. Mine is the brown, with a hint of metal-flake. I need to drop it off at the locksmith for a day to see about having a key made for the fork lock, and the bulbs in the headlight and taillight are out, but the rest of the bike seems quite useful.
