Kitchen Cleaning Supplies

I’ve posted about some of my favorite cleaning supplies before but I thought I would do an entire post about all of them by category. {Before I move on I’d like to make clear that I am a terrible housekeeper. I love cleaning my apartment but it is usually low on my list of things to do. I have a cleaning lady come once a week for two hours to do the bathroom and kitchen. It’s the best money I’ve ever spent.} I love trying new products so if you have a suggestion that you think I haven’t tried, please leave a comment.

a&b: I got both of these scrub brushes from Sur La Table. They are beautiful and useful. c: I use Bar Keepers Friend on my All Clad pans and anything Stainless Steel. It is designed to be gentle but effective. It also removes rust off everything! d: I am currently using the Basil Mrs. Meyers dish washing soap and I love it. e: Anna recommended this dishsoap to me and it smells incredible. f: We’ve been using these French sponges for several years now. They come small and expand when wet. g: Anna gave me a few of these naked sponges and I lurve them. Bonus: they are eco friendly and have great packaging.

h: Dishtowels made out of feedsack, so so pretty. Get from a flea market or ebay. i: I bought a bunch of these when we got married and I’ve yet to find a dishtowel I prefer. What makes them so special is their texture. Go in person to feel them and see what I mean. Plus I like that they are plain and white. j: Method Grapefruit Counter Spray makes everything smell like Grapefruit.

k: This mop has a beautiful metal detail, so classic. l: Another classic piece, a corn broom. I got mine from my local hardware store. m: The most beautiful dustpan and brush I’ve ever seen. I don’t own this but I want to own it. n: I used to use a beautiful old metal industrial bucket for mopping, but my mop wouldn’t fit in it. So I bought this oval shaped one, not as pretty but functional. o: My favorite cleaning product of all time, Mrs. Meyers Geranium all purpose cleaner. Use this on your floors and your whole house will smell perfect.

Thanks for the great tips on cleaning products! I really love these new cleaning products made by a local SLC girl. The packaging is darling and they are made of all natural ingredients. I did a post about them here:

Great cleaning round-up! I like Method, and I’ve been thinking of trying Meyers. For cleaning my clothes I use Charlies Soap – I love it and it also has other uses, plus all natural and cost effective – its great!

How can your cleaning supplies be so beautiful? I love your picks.
I am also a big Bar Keeper’s Friend convert. That stuff is amazing.

For light cleaning, I’ve actually started to mostly just baking soda. I bought a big tub of it for cheap, and I just sprinkle some on counters and then scrub with a wet rag. It seems to work just as well as most of the spray cleaners I’ve used, and it doesn’t make the kitchen smell like scary toxic lemonade (like my antibacterial lemon scented products did).
I still, however, insist on BKF or a bit of bleach with something really stubborn.

What a great post! I love it! I love method anything, and I about about ready to purchase the Mrs. Meyers cleaning products! THanks!
I do have to say, my all time favorite dish cloth are the flour sack cloths at Sur la Table. My husband bakes, so they are perfect for bread making, but they dry dishes like none other. And they are fresh white. yummy:)

method and mrs. meyer’s are so great. perhaps not as pretty as some other towels, but microfiber cloths are the most amazing cleaners ever. Most things clean up with just a rag and water, and then I can sanitize lightly afterward.

Oh, I just LOVE cleaning supplies! I must admite, I am a big fan of the Mrs. Meyer’s rhubarb scent, however.

For the hard-to-clean spots in the kitchen (vent hood, stovetop, microwave interior, anything remotely greasy…) I highly recommend Greased Lightning (found mine at Home Depot). Not as pretty as the lovelies you’ve listed, but that stuff is tough and is my go-to cleaner when I just need to get the job DONE.

I also love, love Method. But I can’t live without my Mr. Clean Magic Erasers! They have cleaned up the “artwork” of a certain two-year-old countless times.

    Great list!

As we are in the process of going natural organic and green in our home we have been trying products. We just got a big box if Seventh Generation to try in preparations for a review & giveaway on my blog. I still have Mrs. Meyers on my list as well as Method products. I highly recommend the Sweet Grass Farms furniture polish & dish soap. Both smell sooo yummy & they are all natural.

I’ve been loving the J.R. Watkins dish soap (in lemon) that I got at Target. It helps that the packaging is beautiful. I, too, swear by Bar Keeper’s Friend for my All Clad and other stainless cookeware. And, partly thanks to your previous mention, I started using Mrs. Meyers’ lemon verbena counter spray, which I can smell wafting from the kitchen as I type. Ah…

I'm surprised no one else has mentioned the Williams-Sonoma (Earth Friendly) CLEAN products. I absolutely love them. They work wonderfully and smell so nice. The Powdered Surface Scrub works better than Bar Keeper's Friend, is packaged quite prettily, and comes in a lovely Pink Grapefruit & Ginger scent.
