Winchester Mystery House

I’m excited! Ashlynn, one of my best friends since I was ten is coming into town today. I have a packed schedule for her and her husband. One of her requests was to go to a haunted house. I know of a few in Half Moon Bay but I don’t know of any in San Francisco. I’ve always wanted to go to the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose. It was owned by Sarah Winchester the heiress of the Winchester Gun fortune. But the house is seriously jacked up. It was forever in construction. She would just keep building elaborate rooms and staircases that lead to no where. Very creepy. It is open year round for tours.

She kept building the rooms because the psychics she paid for years told her bad spirits would not attack her for the guns and death her husband had brought unto the world because of his guns. It also happens that the workers were also contacts and family of the psychics too.

My cousin went there on his honeymoon last year…he said it was awesome…yeah, I guess the rooms and staircases were to confuse the ghosts.

They also have flashlight tours at night around and on Halloween.

I went on a tour as a child and still have vivid memories of it, especially the staircases. You’ve got to go.

oooh. that place is pretty fun. i went there a few years ago with my family and it was very interested.
i do wish they told a few more ghost stories to go along with it. i kept trying to get the tour guide to admit the place was haunted but he’d have nothing to do with it.
but, still worth it. a very interesting house for sure.

We just moved a few blocks down the road from the Mystery House, and haven’t taken a tour yet. Let us know if it’s worth it, it sure is pricey! 🙂

How fun! That has been on my list of places to see for a long time, but I have yet to go to San Jose! Please let us know how it was and if they let you take pictures inside, do share! Happy haunting!

oooh! I went there once but didn’t actually go in (sad, I know) because we didn’t want to pay. too pricey for college kids, I guess. I’ve always wanted to go there, though. so interesting.
