Sonoma Plein Air

I just sent Paul off for his week long trip to Sonoma. The Sonoma Plein Air Festival is a week long painting event where artists go and paint all day outside and they set the artists up to stay in people’s homes. At the end of the week there is a big gala fund raiser on Friday and an art show in Sonoma Town Square on Saturday {last year Jerry Springer was there hee hee}. All the proceeds from the event go to Sonoma schools. I’ll stay here for most of the week packing up the house but I’m heading up there for the gala and art show on Thursday.

Sonoma is the BEST! If you get a chance, check out The Girl & The Fig or EDK (El Dorado Kitchen). If the level of food and service is what it was when I was there, you will not be disappointed.

Isn’t this such a great little art show?? I saw so many beautiful peices there last year. I live there, so I’ll look out for you! Food recommendation: The Fig Cafe is in Glen Ellen and is SO yummy and not as expensive as the others…I blogged about it a while back even:

I am a Sonoma native but have been away at college in Hawaii the last 4 years and love the Art Festival in our little home square. I worked right on the square for 7 years at a store called Sign of The Bear- it is the best kitchen store you could possible imagine. The owners are beautiful people and the store is so quaint. I spent many hours there and wish I would have taken advantage of the 50% discount I got as an employee. The girl and the fig is great, the red grape is also a good pizza place but if you want some amazing italian food go to Della Santina’s- kitty corner from sign of the bear. I also spent many nights at Mary’s Pizza shack both working as a salad maker and also hanging out. IT is a fantastic family restaurant. Also, if you want a good hamburger go to Happy Dog which is near the only McDonald’s in all of Sonoma. For clothing you should go to the Loop, only 2 doors down from S of the B- pricey but cute! I am now shedding tears from being homesick for my home called the Valley of the Moon. Take a deep breath for me and a long glance at the hill sides for me.
