Snail Costume
This is one of the last in our Homemade Halloween Series. The main thing you need for this costume is a brown kraft paper to make the shell. The little trick or treater wears it like a backpack. It is a pretty simple process, just try not to leave a trail of slime on the jaunt around the neighborhood for candy. Find the full instructions right here.

Clown Costume
I was talking with my friend Fergi about costumes and she came up with this brilliant clown costume idea. The clown’s collar is made out of paper daisies you can get at a party supply store. This whole costume could be made super last minute since all the supplies are easy to find.
Materials Needed: Paper Daisies, Party Hat, Clown Nose, Pajamas, Felt, Tacky glue, Scissors
Step 1: Cut off the end of the paper daisy, also remove the top of the white cardboard piece. Make a band out of felt for the neck piece (make it the size of the neck), add ribbon to the ends. Add glue and spread out the daisy the length of the piece of felt, let it sit until dry. Repeat for wristbands.
Step 2: Take the leftover piece of Daisy and remove the piece of cardboard. Cut fringe and roll up, tape and fluff to create a little pom pom.
Step 3: For the hat, cut off the lower portion of a party hat. Reattach the elastic on the new smaller piece.

Airplane Costume
Here is another Halloween Costume in our Homemade Halloween Series. This might be my favorite yet and was really simple to put together. It basically involves cardboard boxes and a trip to the craft store. This costume was requested by Roman but when we went to try it on him he would have none of it. So Moses agreed to be our model (he is at a way more bribe-able age.) See full instructions below!

Eiffel Tower Costume
This Eiffel Tower Costume is really simple and you probably have everything you need to make it at home right now. You could even add battery operated lights to make it sparkle if you wanted to get fancy. (This little costume makes me miss my old apartment.) You can see all of our Homemade Halloween series right here.

The Red Balloon Costume
Working on this Halloween costume made me nostalgic for Paris. We based this costume off Albert Lamorisse’s beautiful French film The Red Balloon. It is a short and sad (but really sweet) movie about a boy and a balloon in Paris who become best friends. Our kids actually love this film (you can stream it on Netflix) and we thought it would make a really great costume. You can throw this one together without a lot of planning. See all the details below.
Materials Needed: Grey Sweatsuit, Leather Satchel, A Large 36″ Red Balloon (you can get these from any Party City.)
This is the kind of costume that people who have seen the movie will love and everyone else will wonder why that little boy’s parents sent him out in a sweatsuit. But really, any little kid would be thrilled to keep a big red balloon company for the night.
