Scalloped Favor Bag DIY

by Sally J Shim

Simple and sweet party favors are the best in my book. I always keep a stash of glassine bags in various sizes handy. Add a scalloped flap to the top of the bag along with a personalized message and you are good to go. I used patterned origami paper for this project, but you can use solid or patterned cardstock or even fabric.

Printable Holiday Tags and Wrap

by Amy Moss

Argh! It’s the last minute frenzy in those precious few days leading up to Christmas. The big day draws frightening close and, remaining true to form, I have an astounding number of gifts yet to be bought and wrapped. Yikes! If you’re in a similar boat, you might welcome some last minute freebies to aid in your creative packaging efforts! The result of a morning doodling session, these are not your typical holiday themed gift tag and wrap designs. They’re a touch quirky- conceived, perhaps, in an attempt to channel the wide-eyed wonder that Christmas used to inspire in me as a child.

Simply click on the button above to download the PDF. It contains 2 pages (the first contains the tags, the second contains the gift wrap).

For the tags- Simply print out onto thick, glossy photo paper (I’ve used Canon 275gsm Photo Paper Plus Glossy II), cut out with x-acto knife, punch a small round hole on one side and attach some twine. (I personally think they go nicely with some neon pink cord)

The ‘eyes’ gift wrap is perfect for small gifts! Print out onto coloured, kraft or white stock of your choosing.

Happy wrapping! :)

Paper Flower Bouquet DIY

Today I’m so excited to share a special DIY I designed for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. If you’ve ever visited a child in the hospital, you know that bringing in gifts or decorations can be tricky. Many hospitals have restrictions on what is allowed  into the pediatric floor  - no plants, no flowers, no latex, no food or candy, no stuffed animals, no used toys. So, this DIY is a great solution! It’s perfectly safe and will brighten up a hospitalized child’s room. It breaks my heart that this year one million children will spend Christmas in the hospital. So I love that CMN Hospitals is encouraging everyone to donate $5 in honor of these kids. To give, just click here and follow the steps. All donations to CMN Hospitals stay local and each hospital can choose to spend the funds however they need them most. CMN Hospitals raise funds for 170 children’s hospitals in North America. Together, they provide $3.4 billion in charitable care every year.

Hexagon Candy Box DIY

by Amy Moss

This project combines three of my favourite things: Papercraft, holiday decorating and candy! Create some really cute mini holiday decorations with these candy shaped hexagon boxes.  Settle in with some festive holiday music and a glass of bubbly and get your craft on!

Here are some ideas for what you can do with these cuties!

  • Attach some twine to the back to create cute hanging decorations
  • I’ve used gold, but you can use any other accent color or metallic you would like. Try an assortment of candy colors! Or use red for a more traditional Christmas theme.
  • Could be used as holiday gift boxes for miniature treasures or treats!
  • If you wish to make gift boxes suitable for larger gifts, use a photocopier to enlarge the template to the desired size.
