Mini Party Hat Cupcake Toppers DIY

by Chiara Alberetti Milott

Do you have a random stack of assorted cupcake liners in your cupboard? I find they’re sold like hamburger and hot dog buns – they never quite match up to how many hamburgers and hot dogs you’ve made. Here’s a cute and easy use for them – mini party hat cupcake toppers.

DIY Giant Christmas Bells

by Jenny Batt

One of my favorite things to do is to peruse vintage books. I found some danish bell ornaments and thought we could punch it up a bit. Add some metallic hot pink and I think we have something. I don’t think they look much like bells but more of a fun holiday forest.

3 Wreaths to Make for the Holidays

I’ve been busy making lots of wreaths and garlands for my family and friends so I thought I would put up a little wreath 101 post. Here are three types of easy wreaths you can make at home. I am not a trained florist but simple wreaths are something anyone can do. The materials I bought from the flower market in San Francisco but if you don’t live near a flower market (or don’t grow your own) you can order greens like this through the internet or through a local florist. There are so many types of wreaths to make but these are some basic skills and supplies you need to make any type you want.

Leather Laptop Case DIY

This project is as easy as it gets. The materials and process are very simple and the whole thing can be done in less than an hour. It is one piece of leather bound together on both sides by simple brass rivets. If you’ve never worked with leather before then definitely practice making holes and attaching the rivets before you start on the real one. If you go to a leather supplier you’ll have more options for interesting colors like this bit of scrap leather we found in the perfect blue. See full instructions below.

Letter Coatrack DIY

This coatrack is inspired by Heath Nash’s coatracks. They don’t make them anymore so I thought it would be fun to make a simple version ourselves so we could make it say what ever we wanted. We made one that said “hello hello” but you could customize it to spell a name or whatever you wanted. This would make a great gift and the supplies to make it are very inexpensive. It does take about a day of crafting but if you spread that out over a few days it would just take a few evenings. (See some other Gifts to Make right here.)
